Construction of the Municipal air field (also known as the Downtown Airport) began in 1930 in a location just north of Shreveport’s downtown district. The official dedication took place July 14, 1931 as part of the celebration of the arrival of the National Air Tour planes. The airport initially consisted of an open field with an airsock located roughly in the middle. This allowed aircraft to depart in virtually any direction depending upon the direction of the wind. Haven't been able to find any pictures of this field. If anyone has access to pictures of this field let us know. Bill

Bill,
This will be an easy one, let's see, big green field and a windsock. I don't know if I can model that or not!

Bill,
Yep, decided I can't model that, so, we'll just have to have a fair complete with rides, we'll ne a stand with a podium, in additional to the normal "National Air Tour" scenery. I think we should pobable have some big Davis tents to store the aircraft and equipment!
That should probably do it! A little better than a big green field with a windsock.

That will be a neat surprise for all involved. I like fairs so much that I might have to stay an extra day! Oh boy, hot dogs, hamburgers, COTTON CANDY, here I come.

Bill,
That's sounds like to much work......After this, I'm going to be the conroller for the air race. While you and the other guys fly, Froggy, Leyland, and I are going to colaborate on "The Windsor to Windsor (Canada to England) Challenge" from 1927.
If you would like more information Google search "Walkerville Times, when Windsor got it's wings"........
You know how I like shortcuts when it comes to designing scenery, It's started at Walker Airport, GUESS WHAT......it's already done.

Hello All, I thought that since there were'nt any hangars and it was just a big green field, we could put the tour aircraft in some Davis Tents......Only one problem, I didn't have a model. We'll here's my new model. Just a few screen shots to perk interest..... MoCat

Kofi,
You have know idea........I am having Bill do the screen shots for day ten while I work on day eleven. It's going to be the most interesting piece of scenery I've ever done. I think it will blow everyones socks off...and to think, it will only be available here on "The Old Hangar"......SO, hold on to your hat.....Bill's not even getting a sneak peak until complete! That goes for Tom, too, unless he asks....but Bruzee comments in the Pilot's Grill got me to thinking and that's dangerous.
