Here's the forum that celebrates the dawn of the Jet engine and turbo-prop derivatives. We'd like to limit the type of aircraft to pre-1970s aircraft and avoid the purely "Tube-liner" syndrome Here's Alphasim's Fs9 Peacemaker to start the ball rolling... Roger.

That was an awe-inspiring aircraft. It's not until you are lumbering down an 8,000-foot runway that you realise just how big - and heavy - this thing is! Nice screenshot, Rog. Bruce

Hi all! Speaking of the B-36, I live right near Ellsworth AFB, a stone's throw from Rapid City, SD, USA. The first thing I did when I got this bird was get the Ellworth AFB scenery (minus the static B1s) and hunt for a paint of an Ellsworth RB-36H reconaissance wing paint. There wasn't one.....so I did this: ...shown here at the retrofitted airfield that was where Convair rolled out the first line of B-36s. (...the base is available at Calclassics.com) Sorry, I forget the ATC id. ..and the screenshot was the only one I had handy. I'll take a better one. www.members2.rushmore.com/~alyot/blackhawk/RB-36H.zip[Edit: It occured to me that I should probably post a screenshot of the paint I posted here: KABQ was Kirtland Air Force Base in Alburqurque, New Mexico. Now it's Aburqurque International Airport. They're still pretty proud this hangar, though, from what I hear. This scenery is in the "Southwest Scenery" package at CalClassics.com] Feel free to use it as you wish. It's a compilation of photos of a recently restored RB-36H in Ellsworth colors, and photos I have of old B-36's from Ellsworth before the B-47 came out. I thank AlphaSim and Co. for the model. I didn't package this for release anywhere. I just whipped it and zipped it to post this today, so it's an "exclusive". I'll post a screenshot later. Right now, I'm trying to paint some helicopters for New York Airways and Chicago Airways for an upcoming beta release of Classic era inter-city Helo traffic. Have fun! ...and thanks for the new sub-forum. ;D Yours, Randy Cain alyot@yahoo.com

Nice pictures and nice idea for a forum. I don't fly jets that often, but when I do, they're usually older ones as well.

Hi, Lifejogger, as freeware F-86 Sabres go, Rey Lopez made a nice one for 2002-2004 a few years back. Here's the file name: cl-13_rhaf_v1.zip . I remember doing a little playing with effects files on this one to try to get a more "smokey" take-off. I remember these things flying out of "Ellington Air Force Base" in Texas (between Galveston and Houston) as part of the Texas Air National Guard. They were REALLY dirty on takeoff by then....after more than 10 years of service. (a particular photo of our president comes to mind) There are plenty of US Air Force repaints out there for this model, too. Yours,

I have been away from the Hanger for quite some time but am glad to see this new forum! I have never really been into the modern jet aircraft. While they are impressive from a performance standpoint you just dont have the heart & soul of the vintage stuff. Cant forget the classic British aircraft

Hi, LDF, if Kirk Olsson's F-86 had been out there when I went looking for one, I CERTAINLY would have mentioned it. ( SabreJet.zip - Kirk Olsson - AVSIM...and others, I'm sure.) I have it now! I can't wake til I'm awake enough to fly it! ...with all my experience in jets, (none, really) I imagine I'll end up in a ball of fire at the end of the runway a few times.... and come to think of it, I'm not even sure which end of the runway that might end up being. Oh, well, we'll see. Thanks for the tip!

Ahhhh, the B-36! Alphasim's Peacemaker is a great plane!! I'm going to have dig it out and fly it again. The best part of it was Alphasim's sound package - could fly for hours and never tire of it. Good to see the site here Roger, thanks! Thanks for the paint Randy, looks great and good to have a historically accurate Ellsworth version. Kirk Olsson's F-86 is one of the best out there - one of my favorites in this category Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Hi, I finally got that screenshot of MY repaint. I posted it in the revision above. KABQ was the "used to be" Kirtland Air Force Base and Convair Assembly/re-fit plant I was trying to remember. Yours,

Hi,
I fixed the texture set for my RB-36H Ellsworth paint to comply to new FS2004/FSX model and texture set. If you got it before today, or haven't fixed it for yourself, it's now compliant for both sets.
Just copy a new complete set of the textures, then overwrite the 4 that I repainted.
Oh, if you got the B-36 from the old Alpha Sim sight and forum, they do have a backdoor to get the new models. I just found that out yesterday. I have the new one now...as seen in Roger's screenshots ..it's a dream in FS9, too!
Yours,
