Hi all, I have annouced my coming DH Comet 1 at CBFM, so why not here... It will be ready in a few weeks, or a few months, who knows... Aeromaritime (UAT) Comet 1: Panel view (Virtual cockpit, the plane is climbing, that's why the Mach is low) Best regards Jens

A lovely aircraft to model, Jens. I assume that it will be available in the BOAC livery?

Hi, Great work! Your panels just keep getting better and better, too! You probably figured I don't do jets much, but I will "try" to fly her! Yours,

Really beyond description. The work of a genius. Well, well, well ... take it easy, it's just another un-released FS freeware model, and you havent' even seen it yet ... All the best Jens

Hi Jens! I just thought of something. You're modelling the "square windows" version. Does this mean that after "x" hours of pressurized flying time, the fuselage will tear apart in mid-flight and we fall to the ocean in a ball of flames? You know I'm joking, of course. ...but after a DC-3 model was released with realistic failures in engines and electronics, I thought a release with this "special effect" might be a real "hoot". ;D Yours,

....You're modelling the "square windows" version. ... That's why I was wondering if the BOAC livery will be included, as the Comet 1 - being the original version of the passenger jet - only had square windows. Incidentally.....look for "The Comet Riddle", by Hewitt & Waterton, 1955. A fascinating and absorbing account of the investigation into the reason for the crashes. Bruce

Hi all,
Well, of course the BOAC scheme will be included, as well as Air France, Aeromaritime (UAT) and RCAF. Most of them with square windows, but the RCAF as rebuilt Comet 1XB with round ones!
BOAC G-ALYP is famous for
1) The first scheduled passenger flight by a jetliner, London to Johannesburg, in 1952
2) Crashing into the sea near Elba after takeoff from Rome (Ciampino, LIRA) in 1954
Personally, I think 1) is much more interesting than 2).
Best regards
Jens

And its getting closer...
Yesterday I 'finished' the Comet 1 (and the Comet 2 as a bonus), but I will hold it bach for a few weeks while I'm debugging it, writing the docs etc.
I like this model, if I can say so myself - it is very interesting flying the BOAC Comet 1 on the route from London via Rome, Beirut etc to Johannesburg, or the RCAF Comet 1XB over the Atlantic from Canada to Marville, France.
Best regards
Jens
