Greetings,
I'm not sure the appropriate forum to ask this question in, but this seems like a reasonable one, so I'll give it a shot. I absolutely love the Custom Classics Globe Swift, but the virtual cockpit has some major issues in FSX, at least in my version. I recently purchased FSDS and am learning the ropes, and thought, why not try and create a Swift for FSX? What would be the propriety of me producing an FSX-native Globe Swift based on the model that the Lyon's produced for FS2002/2004?
The model would need to be made from scratch, as well as the animations, but I'm just wondering if it would ever be possible to get permission to use the flight characteristics (.air) of the Custom classics Swift, and how I could go about making such a request. I understand that although the Swift is freeware it is copyrighted freeware, so of course I will not use anything of that nature if permission cannot be obtained.
It's such a fantastic plane, I would love to have it up and flying FSX friendly and am willing to put in the time and work to make it happen. I don't plan on releasing it unless the overall quality is as good as the Custom Classics model.
This is a long term project as I'm completely new to modeling, but I have been astounded by the quality of freeware that the Lyon's produced and would like to contribute back to the flight sim community for all the excellent freeware it has given me.
That being said, I know the original creator is retired and must be tired of getting countless requests to modify his work...I'm just hoping to see a fantastic plane keep on flying in future editions of MSFS.
