Three more; the white plane is a Coanda-Caproni's design. They did it al London during those pioneering days. And two more for the quiz...so you tell me what it is!

Thanks, I always enjoy your photography! Are those early flight simulators? They also remind me of the setups on rails they used to train gunners. -James

Great pix, Damien.
My guess on that "baby carriage" device and the other thing is that they were crude simulators of some type? Or they were used to test the capabilities of aspiring pilots....like the tests done in the 1950's/1960's for potential astronauts.

Oh yes, I'll take some pics once this rain will be off...we are having a really nasty weather this week.
About the quiz...yes, the second is certainly a ground "trainer" from 1919: but the first is not. So, what is it?
(the answer is already "inside" the pic....lol)

The first is a device to test the different senses of the human body in different attitude sitautions, not a simulator. Looks like the fellow in the seat has a blindfold on so as not to be able to comprehend his local enviroment, not a simulator, at least in a bad weather test for pilots they get to use their gauges. Is he holding an angle meter? Looks like the fellow to the right is recording the numbers.

Yes! the aspirant pilots were seated inside that sort of cockpit while other two guys moved the whole thing up and down, right to left to "torture" him. Good eye Aircoaster!
