Well the rest of the story,....after installation of SP! and SP2, FSX performed great...Untill that is,any mouse click IE,weather,airplanes,exit...now resulted in a lock up.The deletions of SP2,resolved the immediate problem. the re- installation ,caused the problem again.SP1 had no effect..OK with that one. This may be an Anomaly with this on my rig ,I do not know.I thoughtI share this with you ,hoping for some advice..thanx Vin

Vin, I had a similar problem - not exactly the same, but similar - when I installed the A2A Boeing 377 Stratocruiser. To get that to work properly I had to install either SP2 or Acceleration (as stated in the A2A manual).
Situation was that the installation of either of them caused problems so I have not used FSX for over a fortnight.

This might be relevant. Not really a fix or explaination....more a work-around. Might just be another issue with nvidia. (To my knowledge, most nvidia issues can be resolved by running in windowed mode.) Another work-around not mentioned might be to use the shortcut keys to navigate the Alt menu(s). Dave

Thanx,Bruce, and Dave....checking around it seems we are not alone.SP-2 in some applications cause unique problems in FSX. Like Bruce,I use it to also fly certain plains that need this application......Untill we get an answer, which may be FS11,I'll hang in there...Dave I will try that short key approach......."FSX IS NOT PERFECT" ...then again what is ;D well mabey we are!! ....Thanx again..Vin
