After reading a recent thread about Bill's Sikorsky S-43 it reminded me that I haven't flown the friendly skies of Golden Hawaii in a while. When I loaded the flight I suddenly remembered the problem I was having with it. It seemed that for whatever reason the modern scenery and Golden Hawaii were both being displayed. I had already tried all the suggestions this board had to offer regarding the various problems others had encountered but this time I was determined to get to the root of the problem. I finally stumbled on to what may be the cause of my little dilemma. Embedded In the 'My Documents and Settings' folder I found a directory named scenery cache. The folder for Ocen had all the scenery and bgl's for modern Hawaii in it. I deleted out these files and ran FS9 but had the same result. When I checked again, the folder was repopulated with the files I had just deleted. Attacking this from a different angle, I edited the scenery.cfg and deleted the directory location for the scenery cache from the Ocen listing. When I ran Golden Hawaii this time it was truly the way that Bill meant for it to be seen. What a difference!! ;D My question is, are my cache settings set up incorrectly? Has anyone else had a problem like this or am I just the lucky one? Thanks Bill

The creation/use of the Scenery Cache is determined by you're selection of 'Cache this Scenery' or 'Use this scenery directly' for scenery areas in the Scenery Library. You can change the setting in the Scenery Library by selecting an area and click 'Edit'.
'Cache this Scenery' is usually used only if the scenery is being read off a CD (as with a compact install), or other slower drive.
There is also a 'companion' setting on the main Scenery Library screen....'Empty CD scenery cache on exit'.
So having Ocen set to Cache... but not to Empty.. accounts for the appearance/reappearance in the Scenery Cache. Not sure why that would cause the modern scenery and GH scenery to appear together.
Append: I was able to replicate your 'double scenery' by setting Ocen to 'Cache...' but not to 'Empty....' If you change the GH era using the ...\Ocen\Golden Hawaii.exe configurator between sessions, you end up with both file sets in the Ocen cache.
So either don't set Ocen to 'Cache...' , or if for some reason you want to cache it make sure to activate 'Empty.....'.

Thanks Dave, your explanation makes perfect sense. Unless that's a default setting, I'm not sure how that box got checked. I appreciate your help.
