I came across this article quite by chance today when researching Rutbah Wells, an airfield in Iraq at which Imperial Airways had a base and also at which Chichester stopped on his solo flight to Australia. Fascinating. And all within our parents' lifetime. Wonder if there's any sign of it now?

It would be interesting to find out, wouldn't it? If anything exists it should be preserved as an example of man's early aerial-navigation system.
