I found out how to get rid of those annoying screen messages in FSX, like Brakes and Overspeed, stuff like that, by editing the Display section of the fsx.cfg. As you can see from the bit of the cfg file I've shown below, by changing True to False I've got rid of the Brakes, Stall and Overspeed messages. [Display] . . . InfoBrakesEnable=False InfoParkingBrakesEnable=False InfoPauseEnable=True InfoSlewEnable=True InfoStallEnable=False InfoOverspeedEnable=FalseBut this next bit I REALLY love. I've not seen it anywhere else and I discovered it for myself just a few minutes ago. The first 2 lines in the Display section are for ChangeTime and TransitionTime which are both set to 4 by default. Change these to 0 as shown below. [Display] ChangeTime=0.000000 TransitionTime=0.000000 . . .This also then gets rid of those stupid messages in the top right hand corner of the screen telling you that you are in spot view or virtual cockpit (as if you didn't know) and even more annoyingly, stay there for - you've guessed it - 4 seconds. I've been trying to find out how to do this for ages and at last I've succeeded. It'll make making videos much easier. Can't get rid of the instant replay message though

Glad to help guys. It was just a bit of luck really. It was something about the 4s and the section they were in that made me think it was worth looking at. Everything else I've seen on forums has guys changing those numbers fractionally and saying how it improved their FR. Wishful thinking is a wonderful thing eh ;D But what surprises me is that so many people have asked how to get rid of those messages, if it was that simple, why didn't Phil Taylor or one of the other bloggers just say how? Makes you think they didn't know....... so what other important things didn't they know

Makes you think they didn't know....... so what other important things didn't they know Many things. Too many things. And some things they knew, they didn't think were important. With the changes in people (and program managers) and the "We don't want the end-user to do that" mantra, it's a wonder to me that we can fix as much "broken by design" crap as we can. But they sure got the mission system right. At the expense of everything else in the sim.
