Due to several reasons, my flight around Australia had been shelved for a while. The main reason being that I wanted to use VOZ which was having a conflict with texture changing utilities I used for my Alaska scenery in FS9. When VOZ was released for FSX, I decided to move the project to FSX, but my last computer had to much trouble with FSX. It has been bothering me that I haven't finished this flight and now being on a PC that can handle FSX much better, I've decided to return and make an attempt to finish this flight. ;D For those who haven't seen anything from my earlier posts on this flight, the flight started in Sydney and from there following the coast clockwise. I had left off 55 hours into the flight, nearing Cape York. My flight today started at Pormpuraaw (YPMP) and I followed the coast north up to Weipa (YBMP.) The flight took about 2 hours and was in the morning hours local time. (pix from FSX) Nice to see a little civilization. I enjoyed this flight. I'll probably do the next flight in the evening. (It can be hard to keep the DO27's engine within temp limits in the middle of the day.) The next flight should take me to the tip of the cape and then I'll be back on the eastern coast of Australia, which I'm looking forward too.

Just a note of caution: if you land near any creeks, rivers, waterholes or lagoons whilst in the Top End, do NOT take a refreshing dip! An 11-year old girl was taken by a crocodile yesterday near Darwin. I just saw that on the news a little while ago. What a sad thing to happen. It's certainly a reminder how dangerous these animals can be. Thanks. I really like the way Australia looks in FSX with VOZ-X installed. Looking at all that pretty scenery helps to pass the time during the long flights. That Do-27 is a cool aeroplane. Is it available for FS9? Yes, it's available for FS9 too. This Do27 is made by Digital Aviation and it is one of the most realistic planes I've flown in MSFS. It can be purchased from Flight 1 or Aerosoft. It has increased realism such as having to deal with the oil as well as not burning the engine up. But also these features can be turned off for those who don't want to deal with them.

Yup, the DO27 looks interesting!! Looks like it can take a of punishment and keep on flying - defiantly like the panel!! I'm going to have to put it on my list! Australia looks nice as well, Kevin. Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D

Dan …it’s great being a kid again – without the glue! ;D Bruce, Dan, you'll like this plane. Besides how realistic it flies and looks, the female copilot/passenger is one of the most realistic looking models I've seen. Besides looking real, she also periodically scans the instruments, looks out at the scenery and even blinks. ;D Kevin, have you checked out ftxnow.com and the ORBX scenery for Australia? A large file (1.3 gb) which took nearly 5 hours with my connection. ;D I'm currently downloading the 2.1 update. Once that's downloaded, I'm going to check it out. I've looked at pictures of ORBX and would love to get them, but I don't have the extra money to spend on them at this time. They may be a possible future purchase, though.

A little lake within walking distance of the airport. Maybe I'll do a little fresh water fishing. Just don't do any fresh water swimming!!! Bruce
