The intro of the new S-42 brought to mind that I had adapted, re gaged, changed float points, etc on the vintage Sikorsky floaters, the S 38B, S-38c, S40, S-43 (by Chicilo-Lyons), and the VS-44 some time ago, I am fine tunning what I had done, one by one for FSX SP1. The S-39 is ready to go and presented here in pictures to see if there is any interest. I'm thinking of uploading entire files on Rapid-Share or such for textures, sound, gages and such. I have a large collection of adapted FS9 some of which I've done some very good quality updates to. This was a minor update, VC with overlapping duplicate gages with negative number locations, big no no FSX. Prop disk still needs work, I tried, only apparent strong sun light. This is just a sample, a sample of a lot of time spent and little talent I fear. I've made three Varients of panels with VC totally matching each. There might be too many pics, too much verbiage, sorry it's all new to me. JBD Pics taken just off my front yard Lake Champlain.

Hi reddog My pleasure, I spend these long cold winters in front of the screen, it's a waste not to share, I've not much of a public persona so flight sim, Avsim is scary for me, safer here. I will find an upload source, propbably Rapid-share tomorrow and thence list the links here. All files ready to just unzip and drop right into sim objects/airplane. I just checked and bought off on the 38B, the early flat windshield version. I noticed that I had used the same gage set as the 39 series, makes sense the 38 was the twin engine big brother of the 39. The gages are independent, dedicated to the proper engine, rpm1, rpm2. etc. There were limitations to the VC panel I could not overcome, same as theoriginal, the far right side bitmap looks unfinished. I have not looked at the rest of the 38C series, I'm sure the panel is the same but I might of got bored and changed something around, I'll look into it tommorrow, Don't rember hardship with 42 but will work my way to it. The Lyons 43 came out nice I think, a bithch to get it to float if I remember correctly, probably try to talk Milton into looking at it. Still have to have something done to dang frop blurr. Remembered a Hard morning's work, sometime back, at the bone yard scavenging parts, had found a Grumman G44 Widgeon with nice gages The C series panel wise much the same as the B, George used a different panel bit map to account for the sloping windscreen of the C, two fuel gages as opposed to three, I made sure to include the always standard factory installed gear pressure gage. I improved my original layout somewhat, and the checkup was really an easy enjoyable time spent, sign off on the "C" take the 40 out of cold storage. Flight picture is taken heading toward my house going across the from the western side of the lake about four miles out from my dock. Well for your approval, compare it to the original and let me know George based his S-40 panel on the S-42, no VC, Fine looking and flying bird, deseves an accurate panel and VC. I confess I took an airbrush to the panel, my taste, had to clean it up, changed incompatible gages, utilized as many Sikorsky gages as I could, keep it in the family Settled on a layout I think works, but if you have the S-40 let me know if the panel is good for you. JBD next up the S-42

Thanks for the kind words , the feed back is most welcomed. I get a kick out of re-gaging these old birds so they can fly on in the brave new FSX world. . This is the fist time I've flown the S-42, it just came out., In FSX it sits too low in the water, otherwise took it for an enjoyable spin, Beautiful cabin work. Beautiful VC and Visual model. Top quality, fine, fine plane. I have it under FS panel Studio as we speak. Heck nothing wrong with the gages, panel looks good to me, its just a matter of preference and the huge basket of parts I have to play with. Really preference, time on my hands and a S@#$ load of gages I can sort through. I'll be looking at greater clarity of gage faces, greater uniformity in appearance, a little less drab, a little re-arrangement here and there, this will be just my personal taste and touch to the work of a master craftsman. Can't help myself, call it adding pin stripping and mag wheels to a sports car. As always I hope I find the gages to do a good job of it. Will share, thence back to fixing things with the S-43. JBD
