Kick the tires and Light the fires, you're going for the ride of your life!
I'm deeply aware of and conversant in the history of this great bird. There is a full length feature film which I've seen twice, highly recommend viewing.
I saw the press release on this bird by Xtrm Proto this morning at Flightsim, so it triggered a look into my collection. It is a real nice version, I recommend the purchase if your so inclined to have this bird.
Missed not having a 2d panel, to me a lot cleaner way of flying, no hunting around. I transplanted the 2d panel from Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck by AlphaSim into it, matches the VC well and everything works. What I did, not advocating you do the same. You must of course legally own both models.
The Avro CF-105 Arrow Mk2 by AlphaSim is another fine collection, built for FS9. In some ways I like it best, great availability of repaints too.
The AlphaSim model, I did find a note left to myself indicating the VC was blacked out in FSX. I loaded it and saw no problem, could be I fixed it, it could be that it is o.k. in SP1 but not SP2, it could be the problem went away. Wished I kept better records and updated my notes. Everything fine though, could of been a texture issue with a replacement applied to every texture folder I had, really can't tell without a lot of backtracking at this point.
There is a freeware Avro CF-105 Arrow by Chicilo-Stone that I have and I'll take her out of storage and for a spin as well, it could be very good and you can't beat the price.
Also this morning, I noticed that the DORNIER DO-X has been adapted and available for D/L. I have it in my "to my modify for FSX folder" I think it was just a float problem, I'll see if it has been fixed, I'm always really skeptical and often disappointed by some of the adaptations out there. You have to be honest about what you did and couldn't do. There are just too many say P-51 panels grafted onto any war bird for example, original VC left out, some generic commercial jet panel grafted into any jet again no VC rework, a complete disregard for the time period and origin of the aircraft. A lot of inflated egos and a lot of just plain bad stuff.
