At this point - I am trying to determine if "Method A" is the best method for installing Golden Wings - as since Flightsim isn't on the machine at present - and Golden Wings is the ONLY simulator I have desire to have on my machine ... (so really I don't care if the machine calls it Flight simulator or Golden Wings or even DON'T CRASH YOUR HD AGAIN) Wouldn't loading a minimal version of FS9 then use Method A to make the modifications be the course of action?

Dale, there only seems to be the download link available for GW3 these days so I can't find the instructions without downloading the whole package. Important things to remember are if you opt to remove the modern day aircraft you have to leave the c172 and remember to check the "render to texture" tick-box in the display menu. Also there are several updates available on the downloads page and all are worth adding, especially the "streams" update.
Good luck!
Roger.

You can install fs9 to folder FSGW3, start fs9 to get it going and place a cfg and folders, and then follow instructions. That's what I did and it works fine. The instructions list the aircraft and one file in texture to remove so you can't make a mistake.

What I did was put in FS9 - removed all modern aircraft (with exception of the C172 - I remembered NOT to do that from before) - Followed the Method A instructions - but put all the GW3 - plus updates into the FS9 folder - didn't matter to me to rename the icon and such .. overwritting all that it asked ... de-activated the taxiway details bmp. So it seems fine ... Also, I down loaded GATraffic - once all the aircraft (vintage) were inserted ... and placed a "0" in the percentage of usage in the GATraffic listing - did same for the '34 ford - this way neither will show up either in the sky or on approach to an airfield. Going to add Grey Garrish trees - have the other dities like Nova and Nova gold .. and the add on airport texture files, along with VodTex30 - but will hold off using those for now. adding AFCAD2 in a moment. Have the "streams update" ... where does that .bmp go? I copied it into the main texture file for now. I will make sure to check the "render to texture" when I open it again .. I fired it up once .. so far so good ... it is the ONLY simulator running on my system .. splash screen and all. oh also, I forgot - should I load in the FS9update from microsoft or is it necessary.

the other "0"" in the listing aside from the '34 ford was the C172

should I load in the FS9update from microsoft or is it necessary. Yes, it will make a positive difference (especially with bridges) BUT if you do install the FS9 update you will need to reinstall GW and all the updates. (no need to uninstall, just overwrite)
