I am following Alexander Belov´s path north to Novalya Semlya, and the arctic waters appear much too "tropical" in the distance. I have been fumbling around with some water environmets, by the time I have the Lyon´s one. What they all have in common is something like a missing texture for distant water, near the horizon - and that looks wrong. I found a "oceanheightfield.bmp" related to water in another simfolder and changed it several times too, with no difference. My rig is fit and sliders are to the right. Where else may I look?

Yes,my eternal disappointment with the Water in FS9.Reflections ,weather, action, reflective of location and seasons...no ice in the FS9 world unless you make it..no blowing snow,...I still use the Lyons application..for the limitations of the currant Sim world, its OK for me.Until all scenery and water has a moving picture quality, for get it!.....Now Trees.,sky wind, water.well we strive for perfection..and thats what brought us here so far!!.....but in the' Lyons" Sim world...alls well..for me at least!!...... I long for the FSX water in FS9 but thats not to be....So I mess with the visibly range.Do not need infinity for viewing,10,20,30 miles seems more realistic. tried the different colors available. a blue Amazon,or Nile fractures me.Viewing distance does blend the horizons ..to me at least to me Slide..Unlike the models ,which are uncompressing graphics.Hey! we all see a rose, and a beautiful women differantly!..VIVA LA DIFFERENCE.. .......CIAO!!...Vin

Get another set of darker waters (lots ot choose from free and payware) and don't forget to set the "Mipmapping Quality" (in the Hardware section settings) at a minimum of 4. I got the new Zinertek Advanced set and is good. This are some screenies of my Sunday trip:

Get another set of darker waters (lots ot choose from free and payware) That´s what I thought. But then this poor stripe in the distance would not go away!! (§$%?!!)Now, I´ll be back for mipmapping options... mine are set to 5 yet. Thanks Vin and Damian for pointing me to this paywater - that looks good to me. Maybe I go and get it. And see what happens ...

One of Bill's payware packs contained a water file called Lake water. (lkwater.zip) in the Custom Classics Extras folder. I don't think it's in the freeware packs tho' It was a nice dark color for northern water. I think it was in the Luscombe pack.

I was also going to recomend Bill's Lake Water, but Tom beat me to it. I use these textures water because it suits Alaska very well. Over the years I've tried other water textures, but have always come back to Bill's lake water because nothing else I've tried so well suits that northern cold dark murky water look. Here are a couple shots displaying it that I have found in my photo album.

Lake Waters - that´s it. Maybe I try the Zinertek or Elemental solution in the future, but for now the Lyons´water suits best to my needs. And thanks Tom for pointing me to the Luscombe ... there was still a Custom Classic out there I didn´t have. Nice little sensation!

Bill's lake water looks great. Can some one point me to where I can get it? I've looked on fltsim and Avsim and downloaded the Luscomebe but no water textures.
If it is payware I don't know how / where to get it if it's still available.
Thanks LDF
