The girls won´t let me play. Who knows how to get Ralf Kreibich´s wonderfulwonderful wonderful Ilyushin IL-28 running properly WITHOUT studying the 50 page manual for bloody ages? I had one in 1:72 when I was a child and I loved it! I installed everything properly but can´t get the engines running. (not even with lifting it up in slew mode - they shutdown again and again and I cannot find the right adjustments - my russian is more than miserable...

You have my sympathies slide. It's always so annoying when that happens. And the trouble is that if you do then spend 2 days reading tha manual and eventually find out how to do it, if you then leave it and come back in 3 months time, you will have forgotten again. I have deleted several good aircraft because of that. Life's too short and there are too many other important things to take up your time. It's a pity but there you are

I wish there was a simple way of fixing that. Something like autostart=1 or something like that you could add to the aircraft.cfg file. I respect developers for taking the time to make their aircraft that advanced, but unfortunately I don't have the kind of time to spend learning every airplane's querks.

Well ... maybe you´re right. I do not have so much time on my hands, too. On the other hand, often it´s the quirks that make things interesting... Guess I´ll have another try round christmas, when the world is quiet... Thanks for your response that shows you have the same troubles that I have

Nope, sorry Hurricane. Must be something around the config files, engines quit by changing views - I still have no clue. On one of Ralf Kreibich´s other planes ActiveCamera users first had to have a panel.cfg created (written here at TOH) to be able to use the VC because the creates all instruments in his special way. Anyway, his planes are great throughout. I like them all, pilots included.

Nope, sorry Hurricane. Hmm. I downloaded Mr. Kreibich´s Il-28 from Avsim and installed it in both FSX and FS9. I installed the instruments using the cab file of Dimitri Samborski's Tupolev Tu-124, and the sounds from Dave Garwood's Hunter. As far as I can tell, both the Il-20 and Il-28 work about the same in both sims although I could not get the artificial horizons to work. To get the engines running, flip up the four fuel pump swithces in the center of the "overhead" pop-up panel. Then ctrl+e. I hope this helps.

That sounds good. Thanks Hurricane, I´ll give your recipe a try soon! Edit: Don´t know if you can bear Scorpions music, but watch out for these guys:

The Il-28 works now. It was the fuel pump thingy. Thanks Hurricane for pointing me there!

The Il-28 works now. It was the fuel pump thingy. Thanks Hurricane for pointing me there! Glad to hear that you have it running. Do your artificial horizons work? Jan Moravec's IL-28 for FS9 is also a nice one. He modeled TH-14 used in the record attempt and shown in the video. It has a nice clickable VC, navigators cabin, and tail position. It also works well in FSX. Jan's version is at Flightsim.CZ (They've got a lot of nice planes over there).
