Interesting weekend... 2 nice warplanes that I probably won't fly often, but I am glad to have... a training glider that's more fun than I could have imagined, a beta of a coming classic that was a real kick to fly and Milton's beautiful D-18 which will occupy much of my time in the coming weeks.
The only downer so far, a long awaited payware plane that is perhaps the most over hyped, over priced under developed piece of ---- I have seen since FS2000 (for which it would have been only slightly above average.) Its not even up to freeware standards. This thing is so shoddy I wonder how the developer has ever attracted a following. No matter... I won't ever buy from them again, nor will I advertise them by mentioning their name.

Sorry to hear that. I've had that sort of thing happen to me before. It's a terrible feeling to be all excited about a plane, wait hours for it to download, pay more for it than I feel comfortable with, then finely to get it up and running, only to have it a dashed when I see whats on the screen. It sure makes me appreciate the designers who sell their stuff cheap (and often turn out much better models than the more expensive designers.)

The other offerings this weekend more than made up for the disappointment. P-51s, B-29s, a beautiful barge and the definitive Beech-18, plus a peek at the coming soon Winkle Bird... sim-Life is good...

Hi Tom!
What new P-51's came out? I've been preoccupied for several days and not really on top of things. I keep hoping someone will come out with a P-51A or A-36. Just got the Slingsby, B-29 and Beech, hope to fly them this week while I'm on vacation.
Cheers all,
PHil

Yes Tom I could'nt agree with you more I have been screwed twice by some payware products, 1 of the reason's I wanted to learn how to model my own!...But it sure has been a banner week for the Sim World! Bill Lyon's creations are the only payware I buy sight un- seen as you well know!...best Gil......and hopefully in a week or 2?.....Bird is the word!........... ;D

We had a break through weekend with the BK powered Bird. Just left a meeting, over a few libations with Gil, and we figure that the Model A and BK will be out in no more than 2 weeks. Just a few final tweaks and textures and the Bird will leave the nest.
We've already decided on our next model. One wing, round motor, cabin, and clipped wings.
I agree with Tom, life IS good in sim land and here at the Old Hanger!

Don't know what the unsatisfactory payware was but whatever it was it didn't spoil my weekend. My next payware will be Alphasim's Catalina. Some superb offerings that haven't cost me a penny. This hobby is rare amongst hobbies in that there is so much good stuff for free!

Roger, the Alphasim Catalina is also my next payware plane. From the preview shot's I've seen on their site, it looks very good! I recently got their C5 - I realize I'm not suppose to mention jets here - but, only in reference to the fact that if the Catalina is as good as the C5, it will be of very good quality, indeed. They haven't posted an official release date yet - but should be soon - I hope!!

I agree, it has been a great weekend. I would say it's been a pretty good month overall for simmers. Starting with Bill Lyon's wonderful Piper Tripacer and ending with Milton Shupe's wonderful Beech 18. ;D
BTW, Roger, could you or Dan post what you think of the Catalina when you get it? I have Alphasim's Bobcat, but the gauges are pretty blurry and tend to give me a headache when flying it. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm waiting for FSD's Cessna 337!
Also I have been having a lot of fun with Dreamfleet's Beechcraft A36.
Just got a chance to try out Rick Piper's Glider (but have a scenery issue to sort out...oh well, comes with the territory...)
I echo TC...life is good for simmers!

You'll be hard pressed to stop me posting shots once the Cat's released, lol.

Heh we won't yell at anyone for mentioning jets, but please, no 30 picture essays I'm not much into warbirds as I think everyone knows but I'll be in line for the Cat as well. I love my Alphasim Bobcat.

Thanks guys! Wasn't sure, but Alphasim is doing such great these days and most of their planes are jets which represent their high quality. I just checked their site again and the planned release date of the Catalina is early July. That seemed kinda' far away, but it's actually next week - time just fly's by when your having fun!
Roger, I will be looking forward to your pictures - the Cat is looking so good! On the subject of posting pictures, I probably missed it somewhere along the way, but how does one post pictures here. I just downloaded the recent update to "SnapShooter" - works great, but not sure how to post them here. If either you or Tom could let me know or point me to where the instructions are, I would apprecieate it. Thanks!
Dan
