Looks like this is working. To make SW look old fashioned you can combine GW3 with it. What I did was install SW in a directory. Then install GW3 including the four updates in a different directory.
Then copy the SW texture directory over the GW3 one and that now becomes the SW texture. Also add the GW3 scenery directory (minus the world sub-directory) to the SW program.
In addition I added all the CalClassic sceneries. Wonderful stuff. More than 300 airports retroed back to about 1960. I also added Ultimate Terrain which worked fine.
The only thing I couldn't figure out was how to get rid of the modern objects like the sports stadiums in Seattle. If anybody knows what bgl file they're in or how Bill got rid of them in GW3, please let me know.
Also wondering what's in the landclass file AU-LC-GW.bgl. If anyone knows this, please let me know.

I find my memory on these matters is getting a bit thin. I deleted Silver Wings the minute it was released and the beta test was over. Lets work backwards.
AU_LC_GW.bgl is a custom Australian landclass for GW3 (By Ian Thatcher I think).
I'm less sure on this but I think if you copy the default.xml in the autogen folder from GW3 to Silver Wings, the modern objects will be gone. It is possible that some individual objects may need to be excluded. There are, for example two exclude files for Seattle in the FSGW\Addon Scenery\scenery folder.
As for the rest, Silver Wings is just a set of textures, no more, no less. It is the Golden Wings texture set with either 2 or 4 Urban textures modified to show the growth of cities between 1930 & 1950.
The possible problems you will have with copying GW3 over SW is that parts and pieces are everywhere, not just in the scenery folder. Frankly you would be better off to just install Silver Wings, try the default.xml mentioned above and install the CalClassics scenery. I can say for certain that Golden Wings scenery for Maine is inappropriate for the 50's and I am sure that many other areas are equally too primitive.

Oh, I agree. I'm not copying the entire GW into SW. I did try it earlier and had multiple problems. Now I'm just adding stuff from the GW main scenery and main texture folders to retain the retro on the buildings and stuff. That seems to work fine - except I couldn't get rid of those modern objects. I'm going to try the GW xml file and those two exclude files. That might do it. What surprised me is Ultimate Terrain fit in well. Thanks.

Well, that stuff didn't work. Guess I'll have to live with some modern objects. Otherwise, the mix is working just fine. SW with a retro flavor.

Well you got me thinking, and after the pain subsided, I went looking.
If you go to scenery\cities\Seattle\scenery you will find 1 bgl. In Golden Wings there are 11 bgls, 10 of them are excludes. Don't mess with seatacx.bgl or the airport will disappear but the others might allow you to regress Seattle appropriately. A glance at some other cities shows some additional excludes in FSGW that might be useful. If you see files that contain cvr, those are designed to cover post-WWII airports. You'll want to avoid those as well.
What you are doing is pretty much experimental so good luck & have fun.
