Great detail, lovely! Uhm... how much ´Futer -and how much FSX?- would one need to have these pics running smooth? I feel a bit FSX-ish since I read the freeware plane list and looked at one or the other screenie...

Slide: I have the frame rate locked at 30 and have not looked at it since. I have totally smooth performance and those pics are like the tip of the iceberg. I wish I knew how to make a video so you could see that too. Specs: Intel® Core™ i7-2600 processor w/8MB L3 cache and 3.4GHz processor speed with Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz. Can be overclocked into the 4s but that is against my "religion." 8GB DDR3 memory 1TB SATA (7200 rpm) HD nVidia GeForce GT 530 graphics with 2GB Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit -------------------------- This is essentially an FSX dedicated machine. The only other programs are those that supplement FSX. It is online with Chrome browser available but only to trusted FS websites. Attachments:

Nice job Tom. You're having better luck than me. I can't justify the cost of a full computer upgrade just now so I'm limited to my old core 2 quad with 4 gig memory which I was running with XP and a 9800GTX+ graphics card. I decided to splash out on a new GTX560 card and I saw some nice improvements in my FSX FR. As some may have seen, I decided to do a fresh install of FSX on a separate drive and originally used my copy of Vista that I can't run on my Dell laptop but of course, Messrs Gates/Ballmer decided that although I've purchased the software and am not using it on any other hardware, they would class it as 'not genuine' when running on my PC. So I thought what the heck, go for Windows 7 in that case (just the 32 bit for me).
The long and the short of it is that FSX is running great with good FR in XP on my machine but it's totally unstable and will not run at all on the same machine in Windows 7. Keeps just crashing the graphics driver - the same driver version that is running sweetly in XP. I've even tried totally degrading it by reducing settings but still no luck. Funnily enough, I did get FSX SP1 (which is what I have in XP) running after a fashion when I had the Vista set up but no way was it stable when I installed Acceleration. It seems that Windows 7 is even less tolerant of it than Vista was.
I've spent enough of my life now trying to get FSX running so I think I'll go back to doing what I was doing ie forgetting about it and doing my flying in the real world when I can, not on my PC :-)
