And I bought it. As bummed as I was that the bundled aircraft was only half there, it was still too much of a bargain at 14.99 to pass up.

Hi Tom..I will wait...its not the price, but the plane.or lack off!..However I will also be looking for your findings with this...Now I am sure the Scenery will be great....one question however,Can the Hawaii planes used in Alaska?..with at the very least a Maule?,.... if so.then this ALASKA FLIGHT can be both a GAME and a SIM...Thanks Tom...Vin

All aircraft are available. Over on the Connect site I hear that you can substitute the Maul instead of using the Cub with the STOL challenges. As much as I bitched about it, I will probably purchase it. I already have just over 1000 MS Points so it will only cost me another $5.00 or so. Be aware though other then some challenges and Job boards at airports, missions and aerocache has not been implemented yet.

You can use any airplane. I've been flying the Maule all afternoon. I think the scenery and the possible flights are worth $15. The free plane I can take or leave, like the P-51. There are challenges that need it and you can do tundra tire tricks like skimming the water, BUT I hope we get a true floatplane with a cockpit soon. Also look for bugs in the scenery. I found one already.

Well I BIT the BULLET.. and Its Not HAWAII No More!...Scenery is nice...Alaska so vast would take a long time to explore....I am sure there are good things,as there are bad things...Time by users will revel all....What with ALASKA being a great ,natural water place, the "BEAVER" on Floats,Tundra,or Skis ,is truly missed!..However the MAULE is a an acceptable .plane ,but limited!.
I sought out the North Slope..Barrow,and other strips..While not inclusive of all, pleased to find these. Its Not ALASKA without the Wiley Post-Will Rogers Memorial Airport.
Strangely Believe it ,the "ZERO" is not out of place here...he Aleutian Islands Campaign was a struggle over the Aleutian Islands, part of the Alaska Territory, in the Pacific campaign of World War II starting on 3 June 1942. A small Japanese force occupied the islands of Attu and Kiska,....It was a brutal conflict, now all but forgotten!
Happy to see some static displays but sparse......OK ITS FUN! As a GAME ,or a SIM!,Pure FUN!...And like I say ,along with my FS9 FSX,and now FLIGHT,My DESK TOP SIMMING is growing.....I still think the BEST is yet to come!..I recommend it .Along with a bottle of YUKON JACK!! ;D MUSH!,GEE,HAW, EASY,WHOA!... ;D

Wow, panning in on the map brings up some of my old haunts from the Big Bear days. Haines, Gustavus, Yakutat, Cordova, Smith, Valdez, Skagway, Petersburg, etc. All are well done as far as scenery goes. I've been using the Maule, and the Stearman, but my first choice would be an amphib or float/wheeled Beaver, then the Otter. The Beaver was always a bit of a challenge with loads and fuel, and it always seemed to come out shining at the end. Yes, you can say Beaver, but I tell you, I am not holding my breath on that one.

Thanx Aircoaster...Your comments on the Scenery...Great!!You being there, and yer observations , are most helpful!
Yes Of Course...the "BEAVER"...ALASKA calls out for it...That along with all; of the Planes that Alaska gobbles up....Sadly this points up to the Fact we do not have Designers ,and Model makers with their talent and input in FLIGHT...They of course made FSX,to be FSX....as sure as Lyons and others made FS9 into a wonderful Sim...I'm not holding my breath Also!...But We do have them, FS9,and FSX,always there, and now we got FLIGHT...All much fun...Vin

I too, have gotten it. I checked out the places I have spent time, Cold Bay, Kodiak and Fairbanks, and scenery is good. The only thing I can say is that when I was flying out of Fairbanks, it was only a single runway. Will check out the smaller places like, Ft Yukon and a few others as time permits. I like it, myself.

It makes me drool knowing that MS has something up their sleeves with the quality of aircraft they have produced so far with cockpits, just day-dreaming here. I have to get the wife to change the pillow cases..... . It would be so great if they created some classic Alaskan bush aircraft with cockpits, but I have the feeling they will be over priced. What the hell were they thinking? I won't hold my breath on this, but it could happen, being optimistic.

Many long years ago, when Bill released the Globe Swift package with scenery for Swift Creek, I made an addon package with 5 nearby airfields in the McCarthy, AK area. Naturally I went directly there after installing Flight Alaska. Good thing I did. A large area of creeks and the river have the water mask missing and show the adjacent dry land terrain between the banks. I hope it will get fixed in the first patch.
A note about accuracy and realism, I have checked out all the places I have visited in real life and they are well done as far as details go, BUT as has been mentioned many times, what is missing in Ketchikan and Juneau is about 500 float planes. If they don't want to actually give us some traffic I wish they would put in some static aircraft.

I don't want to give the wrong message here because I haven't got this Flight thing at all and doubt I will, but it sounds to me as though you're buying into a work in progress that will be a long time before it's finished, if ever. Not so bad if you had any influence over the direction it takes but it sounds as though that's far from the case. But every man to his own and I'm very pleased for all those who obviously are enjoying it.

Who remembers those monthly magazines that used to come out with a model of a ship, or a dinosaur, airplane etc... They used to have a new part each month and you could at great expense build your chosen model. This is what Flight reminds me of. I started one of those building the Cutty Sark ...... never did finish it my pocket money just would not stretch. lol

Meryl I always remember Fairbanks having two runway, one was large and more suited for commercial traffic, and the other just south of the larger for private and small aircraft. Then there was the float plane pool just south of the smaller runway.

Even though I have never been to Alaska in FS, or Hawai'i for that matter, I immediately bought the Alaska Pack. I guess for something new more than anything. I love the Cub, even without a working panel. And Alaska in the snow is lots of fun. That's what it's all about, isn't it? I too want a Beaver with floats, just wouldn't be Alaska without that amphibious Beaver. Not sure that I will be able to cover the whole region, though. This is pretty big, and I am way out of my league. ;D But, I am immensely enjoying the small bush strips, really great stuff! And also landing on ice floes! It does need a whole lot of static scenery, floatplanes, and those cabins that are in the Sectionals, that should be easy to add. Tom, if you file feedback on that, I shall support it and I am sure that others will also. Best regards. Luis Attachments:
