Well, I THOUGHT I had had roast chestnuts in my youth, but it seems that I have never had PROPER roast chestnuts. I would like to try your method but finding good chestnuts in Australia is probably not likely.

We visited a chestnut grove/farm in the Southern Highlands several years ago and came home with a sugar-bag full. Also, in Canberra during the winter period, a bloke used to have a stall in Garema Place at which he roasted chestnuts for the lunchtime crowd. www.chestnutfarm.com.au/www.chestnutsaustralia.com.au/www.austnuts.com.au/chestnuts.htmlwww.premiumchestnuts.com.au/Bruce

I'm sorry to say, I'm not sure if I've ever experienced Roast Chestnuts. Hmmmm.....I now feel cheated. (smile)
I might have to keep your directions and give it a try this winter. In fact.......I'm not sure if I've ever seen them in Southern California.....might have to do some investigating.
Cheers,
