Hello Goldenwingers, Here is something I have not encountered before, the latest idea of the ghost-inside-my-sim: While looking around from the VC or in spotplane view my sounds lack quality. The sim produces BZZZZ´s and scratching noises like an old radio, like the sim was too slow to follow my eyes. I checked this with and without dense sceneries, tried default and addon-sounds and looked around slooow and careful: No way. I have had no significant changes in my FS-settings or on my system the last days. It is not the ´futer, I checked settings and output of speakers and my AC97 onboard soundcard. Everything else, except FS, is working excellent. Any ideas someone? :-Xscraaatch, Slide

Hi Slide, So there was a period when all was good with this same on-board sound card? If so then I'm stumped. Could be a new Fs9/GW3.cfg might help (back-up the original), it seems to help cure any number of issues, but I would always reccomend a pci sound card...even a fairly simple and cheap one would do.
Roger.

Yes Roger, I have never had any trouble with it before. I know you are right, but when the second-hand-machine came, I just took it as it was..... Do you think changing to a PCI-card would solve the problem? (There should be an old Soundblaster anywhere around....)

A change to a PCI sound card wouldn't do any harm, Slide but if the problem has occurred for no known reason I'd want to correct the fault first. Maybe wait for a more tekkie type to come on the thread and offer some more possibilities

Slide,
I had a similar problem, I had a buzz coming from my addon speaker system when in VC or 2D Panel views only..........one other thing made it worse, it didn't occur all the time, only occasionaly! Well, after a week or two of pulling my hair out and going nuts, I found out by accident what it was....My dear sweet lovely wife had put a lamp on this other side of the wall in another room, but it was pluged into the same circuit (Electrical) that my computer was. When the light was on the computer only in flightsim VC/2D panel buzzed.....light out, no buzz.
Here's a short simple test....if you have the radio/cd gauge turn the radio on and see if the buzz goes away.....if it does, start disconnecting electrical appliances in the immediate area of your computer....has something to do with electromagnetics and currents.
I don't know if this is what it is, it worked for me.......Now I have a light on my computer desk and when I hear the buzz, I turn it off!
Good Luck,
MoCat

pulling my hair out and going nuts .... another nice bizarre phenomenon, MoCat. Meanwhile I let the sim write a new FS9.cfg into a new, empty and renamed textfile. That didn´t solve it. Made a restart for some other reason and -SURPRISE!- found the machine unable to boot. Gave it a recovery-tool that said there had been a "registry-hive" (what is that??) and that it would be corrected. That worked, Windows is back. (Oh, how I love to fumble on that thing, when I just want to fly!) While I write this I fire up FS ......and it tells me it deactivates the active camera.dll - - - a problem with Active Camera it was! Now it is gone and the sound is nice again - but I can´t look around!!Heavenly. I´ll try a reinstall then...

If it isn't one thing, it's another!
I have active camera and I'll keep that in mind if I ever get the noise back. I'd rather have active camera with a buzz than not be able to walk around or look side to side
What is a registry hive, I've never heard that one, but I'll bet it's when one installation of a program overwrites or changes the registry location of another. The registry is something, I try to stay away from, but an number of programs write to the registry so that they can be uninstalled remotely with an uninstaller program.
That's my best guess!

P.S. After NAT's complete, I'm going to do a few quick addons for the "Flyboy's" scenery. I like you signature picture. It really looks great. Just one question, how did you get the pic in the signature block?

If you re-install Active Camera, turn off "fly-by" mode. There is a conflict between the doppler effect of the fly-by sound and certain other sounds that may be in an aircraft or a piece of scenery.

I reckon the buzzing sound was all those ruddy registry bees in that registry hive myself. Obviously the cold snap has put em all back to sleep again - expect they'll be buzzing like crazy again when the real Spring comes.
Another downside is that later in the year your PC's registry will be totally gummed up with honey. Upside is it's lovely on your CPU when it's toasted as it will be when your cooler stops ;D

I reinstalled active camera, you´re right, better have bad sound than being unable to look around! To have a signature picture, MoCat: "profile" (on top)/"Modify Profile"--> "Signature" (half way down). Set URL to your pic. I keep mine on a personal webspace. Glad you like it.

I used to have this problem as well. When searching around I found a solution to it.
You have to turn sound acceleration off or to normal, one of those.
1. In Control Panel, open Sounds and Audio Devices. 2. On the Volume tab, in the Speaker settings area, click the Advanced button. 3. In the Advanced Audio Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab, and then adjust the Hardware acceleration slider control to adjust the clock timing for your sound card.

Fly-by-option already unchecked, Tom. Didn´t work either. Following your recipe had some effect, Skuba - I found some "Soundmanager" I had never heard of. I followed your instructions plus several other changes ( killkillkill) and now it´s less disturbance. I´ll try a PCI-card then...... Thanks guys for your help!
