First off, love GW as I've loved all of Lynn and Bill's stuff. However, I cannot get rid of the black taxiways. I installed GW using method B, so I know it is not an addon problem. Anyone have any ideas. And yes, I have deleted the bmp file as instructed.

Its an odd video card issue that we haven't been able to isolate. Put the taxiway BMPs back in and you should have normal taxiways (instead of grassy fields) It works fine on my Sony but black taxiways on my gateway

Hi,
I also get black taxieways so I went back to the default textures.
Could this be ATI releated? I'm using an ATI 9600XT with driver version 5.7

I don't know if its an ATI problem as I do not use ATI cards in any of my computers. I get the black taxiways on my laptop which has an onboard Intel chip. For those of us with the black taxiway problem, the answer is to put the taxiway bmps back in (and you can use AFCAD to remove them again) On my regular flying machine, I have an nVidia card and no black taxiways (no taxiways at all which was the intent.)

Hi natedanger..... I have an ATI card and too had the black taxi-way's...... I was the cause of my own problem however....... in my excitement to get GW installed, I missed step 5 and that caused the problem. I see however, you've stated that you completed step 5 and deleted the taxiway_detail.bmp file.... so I'm not sure. Just asking here.... you did just delete the taxiway_detail.bmp and not the 02 or marks bmp right??? I'm only asking here as I almost deleted the wrong bmp file the first time...... hands were shaking so bad with anticipation of Bill's GW's that I almost lost control trying to get it installed. (smile) Good luck.... let me know if you get it figured out. Best wishes, Steve R. Last thought.... Have you by chance done a quick search to make sure there wasn't another taxiway_detail.bmp lurking about..... I suppose depending on how you installed..... and what add_on's you have..... I've seen programs make duplicate copies of texture files before..... just a thought.

Hi All, It was our intent to eliminate all the modern taxiways in GW and to selectively add them back to those few airports that had them in the 30's. Unfortunately we have found that a few video cards/driver combos seem not to like this and you get black taxiways. Nothing we can do but to at least make them compatible with the old runway textures. If after making sure you have deleted the taxiwaydetail.bmp you still have black taxiways you can download a little file that will make your black taxiways look like the old runways. The link is below. Unzip this file into your Golden Wings installation. For those who are making new "old" airports in AFCAD and want to make tarmacs and taxiways visible like those at Port Columbus we have fixed the textures so you can code them as "Coral" and they will show up as they do at Port Columbus or The Grand Central Air Terminal at Glendale Ca, windrfters.com/GWTaxis.zip

Thanks for all the replys. When I first saw the black textures, I thought that maybe it was because of AE7. But then I remembered that I used method B and had a clean install. I played around with deactivating different combos of the 02, marks and detail bmps but always ended up with black taxiways. I am having the problem on my laptop that has a nVidia GO GPU with an Athlon64 3500+ processor and 1 Gb of ram. I will install Bill's texture (as always...thank you sir!!) and see what I get. Thanks again to all that replied.

Perhaps this is an installation issue - I have an ATI X800 XL video, and did a separate install - no black taxiway problem here...

I have the same problem... black taxiways.... reinstalled the original taxiway.bmp and still the same... black taxiways ... I even copied and pasted the .bmp from the other FS9 that I have still installed and still the same. Any ideas before I try one other idea ... namely ... copy the texture folder from the W3 into my "modern" flight sim and see what happens

Any ideas before I try one other idea ... namely ... copy the texture folder from the W3 into my "modern" flight sim and see what happens Dale Unless you are ready to delete everything, do not, I repeat do not combine FSGW textures with your default FS9 install. First, copy from your default to fsgw BOTH taxiway_detail.bmp and taxiway_detail02.bmp and restart FS If that doesn't work, read below. There is an odd quirk with some video cards that causes this black taxiway syndrome. Scroll up in this thread to Bill's message and try the patch attached to his post
