I have a question in relation to airports. In front of the hangers in most of mine, I not large black streak presumably where the pavement used to be. Is there some setting in FS that needs tweaking on my part.
I did a new install from the CD's, and have added no other scenery other than a few small airports from the Golden Age library.
Solution would be appreicated.

From the installation instructions:
"STEP5. You MUST now open your new FSGW3 and delete certain files and folders! DELETE from main Texture folder: taxiway_detail.bmp"

In all fairness, I should add that if you've already done this and still are experiencing problems, then it's most like due to an odd video problem that has been affecting a small amount of users..

Deleting taxiway_detail.bmp did the trick, and I thank you

I still have black streaks...might be related to my graphics card, then (Render to Texture is also checked). I am using a GF2 MX-400. I don't get water reflections, either (neither in default FS9 nor FSGW).
Is there a grass texture or something that I can name taxiway_detail? Or would that interfere with a lot of the scenery?

If you have tried everything and still have the black taxiway bases showing up then the only thing left is to add them back by using this replacement zip file. windrfters.com/GW3OldVd.zip Unzip it into your main fsgw3 folder and it will put taxiway and tarmac textures back. Not very nice looking for the 30s but the only thing left. Best, Bill

Hey all!
I have the same problem, and I have read that this occurs with old video cards.
My question is: is my video card too old? It is a GeForce 4 MX 440 with 64MB RAM. Is this considered an "old" card now? I bought it about 2.5 years ago.
Thanks! Bio

Yes, the MX series is obsolete. It is incapable of rendering reflections and has a few other bad side effects in FS9. You will need to get the texture package from Bill's post above yours and replace the ones that don't work The FX series of cards is cheap now so you might consider and upgrade. It will make FS9.GW3 look much better

That's it - I'm upgrading! Far be it from me to let you guys have all the fun without me! :-)
The FX ones do look like they'd be good. I was also looking at ATI's Radeon 9250 series chip-based cards. They can also be had for a reasonable price.
Is this an appropriate place to ask people their thoughts/feelings on good cards for FS/GW? Or what minimums to look for (Directx compatibility? RAM?)?
Thanks! Bio

Its probably not the best place to discuss it, but I have used an FX5200 and currently an FX5700LE and get good performance and graphics. I have not used an ATI card since 1998 so can't speak for them, but just as I am a devoted nVidia user, so there are equally devoted ATI users. HOWEVER, don't get less than an ATI 9800 if you go that way. Here's a sample screen with the 5700LE
