Evening Gents,
I've never noticed this before. I am running Silver Wings and Golden Wings, each on different drives. After I installed Gil's Waco ATO I noticed that there were no panel lights and no rudder post light. A couple of nights ago I decided to see if I could find a solution to the problem. All the panel lights worked in Silver Wings so I copied what I thought were the applicable lights from the effects folder in SW to the effects folder in GW. Lo and behold it worked. Now I have panel lights in everything in GW that has lights installed.
Last night I was doing some night flying in GW and for the first time noticed that most of the planes don't have rudder post (or rudder/tail) lights. Switched to SW and found that several that don't have tail lights in GW do have them in SW. Most of the Lyons planes don't have tail lights in either sim. The only one that I remember having a tail light is the Swift. I don't have the Swift in GW so can't check it there. But, lots more planes that do have tail lights in SW don't have them in GW.
Anyone else noticed this but me? Or do I have some more missing files that I just haven't found yet? Heck, I was feeling pretty good about getting all the panel lights working.
Cheers,
Phil

Phil- We took a shortcut to remove all the approach lighting from GW3 by removing the halo.bmp and replacing it with an empty file. You can copy halo.bmp from FS9 or Silver Wings and it will bring back a lot of missing lights. It will also bring back all approach lighting except those which have been manually removed with AFCAD (KBGR for example)

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the dope! I think I'd rather leave the light off than soil GW3 with approach lights. ;D
Don't know why I never noticed that before though, but I do most of my night flying, and especially approaches, in the VC so I probably just never noticed. Love to fly the sim at night, brings back lots of memories.
Cheers,
Phil

Phil,
Having had basically the same problem with Bill Lyons' Stinson (no rudder light nor red wing light not working in SW and FS9 but did work in GW) I went to the aircraft cfg file and scrolled down to Lights and "turned on" the rudder light by removing the // from fx_navwhi line and then moving the light up the rudder and to the rear to place it in position by changing the numbers.
The red nav light (to shorten a long story) was due to the lack of the file fx_navreds in the effects folder of both SW and FS9. I copied it from GW to the other sims and now I have all three nav lights. It took me a loooong time to figure this out.
So check the effects folder and the a/c cfg file.
Hope this helps.
Frank
