OK, Flushing is done and ready for download. Check the new "Downloads" section of this site.
The North Beach scenery is also available again from the same source.
In time I intend to have this stuff uploaded somewhere more public, Avsim perhaps; but I am still not satisfied with North Beach and want to make some improvements before making it more generally available. I also have some other things I want to do in the New York area. Possibly this may end up as a package.
I don't make any claims for the authenticity or accuracy of the Flushing scenery. I had to work from inadequate information and I did a lot of guesswork and a certain amount of Q&D. I also had to do some landclass mods and these are inevitably very approximate when you're working in a limited area like that.
However I can at least say that this looks a lot more like Flushing Airport in the early thirties than what's there in the default version.
It's not a fancy scenery with a lot of eye goodies; I kept it very simple in order to hold down the size of the download. I doubt if anybody is going to use it much. Mostly it's there because it's visible from the approaches to North Beach; it's basically meant as flyover scenery. All the same, it's fully usable and even has a bit of traffic. (Contributed by the estimable Mr. Constantine; I've really got to learn to do that stuff.)
How did an Oklahoma hillbilly get involved in doing New York? I'm still trying to figure that one out myself....
