In checking out one of the fields I'm going to start on, I noticed that the lake alongside it runs uphill Is there a way to "flatten" water in the area of an airport Thanks guys ;D

Sure. Flatten it the same way you would anywhere else that needs it. Airport, Sbuilder, I guess any of the programs will do it. Probably even possible to write a text flatten as we used to have to do in FS2002, though I don't know why anyone would want to.
I had to flatten the whole area around North Beach - Flushing Bay, the East River, that dinky inlet that's supposed to be Bowery Bay - for the same reason.
However, you should be aware that this sometimes causes other problems. FS doesn't do sudden changes in elevation; it will smooth them and make them gradual. So if your flatten goes up to the water's edge, the land will then slope more or less gently - 45 degrees or less - back to the elevation of the adjacent land.
And if your airport is up next to the water, this can result in some weird stuff, like runways sticking out over nothing like diving springboards. So you may have to crank up AFCAD and relocate or shorten the runway so that it's all on solid land.
(Which may not be all that solid. The land next to a flatten tends to be pretty dodgy; there may be soft spots where you sink right in. If you're planning to run amphibia and have them taxi in and out of the water, you may run into a problem. This is something that's hard to predict.)
But sure, a flatten works just as well in the area of an airport as anywhere else.
If you don't know how to do a flatten then I can only suggest studying the help material for whatever program you're using. Different software uses different procedures so I can't give generalized instructions. However the basic principle is the same: you're creating a polygon which flattens everything within its borders to a specified level.
Uphill water is one of the major curses of MSFS scenery I'm afraid. Installing aftermarket mesh sometimes makes it even worse.

You can say that again - I had problems with the rivers running through the Mountains in New Zealand a while back so I tried a dirrefent mesh. Now I had deeper valleys with water running through them on what looked like viaducts - yuck!!!

I've had my share of 'flatten woes' I have chased little ares to flatten and it is just like trying to smack a wild cat under a rug with a broom It just keeps moving where you don't want it.

Ha. Wait till you have to do a water flatten and an elevated land flatten in the same area. Silly Putty time.
