Just got FS-X demo downloaded and haven't had much time to do anything with it. However I noticed a ton of differences and goofs right off the bat. Or, maybe it is simply my video problems. For one, I can't get the Baron to sound the stall buzzer. It simply noses over, with no sign of a red stall indicator on the corner. Then there were just bare axles running around on the streets with no car body...what happened there?? And when I view myself from the tower, the runway texture flickers on and off with the grass poly below it. Although, I almost KNOW that is my graphics problem. I also noticed a huge performance hit on my system, which is made of 1 gig of RAM and 256 MB ATI card. Which is actually a normal/good set up in today's standards, but the standards are certainly evolving as you can tell. I made a quick video that shows FSX as it really is, no 1 gig graphic cards or 2 gig RAM, just a regular computer. media.putfile.com/FSX-shortHere are some shots from FS-X, including the Beaver for all of you waiting for the Beaver: Check out the interface! Looks like we will be having some amphibious traffic as well! More to come, I will be pushing my graphics card to it's limits!

I downloaded it last night but I won't be able to test it out until Saturday. Sounds like my graphics card won't handle it though, 128MB ATI Raedon 9700.

I believe you will. But you will definitely want to turn the settings down such as the reflectivity. It doesn't look too good on my 256 MB card, with flickering and blank patches all over the propeller spinner. Keep on going with the 128, but someday you will have to upgrade it, because gaming technology is evolving...your card has to move with it!

For me I CAN run it, just not well enough that I would want to switch from FS9

Just a suggestion to try, but I found that there is a small increase in performance if you do the following. When FS-X is running, open Task Manager. Switch to Processes tab. Now find fsx.exe and right click it, then highlight Priority, and choose "Realtime". This worked well for the first time, but then I started maxing out the settings after getting better results. I can barely fly the ultralight now, the framerates are so bad.

I'll wait until the final game will be release, but once again the water looks so cartoonish... it was the same with FS9, so I hope some guys will change that. But the reflection effect is soo good!

I've just posted on my Blog about some technical changes in FSX but one of them is that it is using High Level Shader Language. Shaders are a way to light, create reflections etc at the Vertex and pixel level. It is going to depend quite a bit on how recent your graphics card is as to which version of HLSL gets used on your machine. The later versions can do more complex things ;D

Just what I wanted to hear...not! I bought my graphics card around January this year, so I would think that is a new enough card to do the job. I also hate it when they show nice quality pictures inside games (To showcase their card) but then you get it and can barely push the card to get fancy reflections. So, I am going to overclock the core GPU and RAM on my card to maybe get an extra bit of performance....until it burns up....

Well if it a recent card then it will certainly support Shader2. AS far as I know there aren't any cards currently supporting Shader3.
I think that most of the shaders in FSX are 1.1 which will work on just about any current card. If you have a Shader 2 capable card then you should get most of the eye candy - it will be down to your processor and GPU RAM.

If it is, then the next thing I have to do is get more RAM. That is my plan anyways, but I am certain it will help out.
