Here they are But this is only part of the story. The new view system allows you to select panel view with the S key as usual, then the A key cycles between 2D and several VC cameras. In the Goose those cameras are Pilot view (shown below) co-pilot view, radio stack and overhead panel. New views can me created. To my mind, the 2D panel is finally, totally redundant and unnecessary.

Boy, that puts FSX back into the "Very Tempting" catagory.

Make no mistake, it is graphically beautiful. It is also a demanding piece of software that will need top of the line equipment to be enjoyed. Those pictures were taken on an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with 2 gigs of RAM and an nVidia 7600GS video card with 256megs and I can't run it with everything maxed.

Cool shots!! The little emblem on the yoke shows the great use of bump maps for repainters. This is going to be fun. I wonder if another gig of RAM (to equal 2 gig) would make a big difference. I already have a 256 mb graphics card. So much graphical experimentation needed for FS-X. And their minimum system requirements are unbelievable! 2.0 GHZ Processor, 64 MB Graphics Card, 256 MB RAM... 14 gig HDD... hahahahaha ;D

Beautifully rendered VC. Nice pciture too. I like'em big ;D To me the 2D died the day the Real Air Spit was released . But I must add that some of the default arcraft VC are not bad either. Far from it. What about the flight modeling ? Is it acceptable ?

What about the flight modeling ? Is it acceptable ? I have mainly flown the J-3 or the Ultralight Trike through Beta 1 & 2. I have only just begun to try some of the other aircraft. With a couple hours in the Goose I would say the flight model is OK. The Beaver seems to be very good and the Maule (with only a few minutes) is smooth. The Cessna 172 flies very well. I have not/will not be flying the jets of course, so I can't rate them. Of the limited number of FS9 aircraft I have tried, the Carenado Cessnas have all flown very well in FSX.

So, I guess that Active Camera will not be needed anymore? really nice work for a default plane. I am gladly surprised!

I'm sure that Active Camera in some form will be a nice addon, but some of the features of AC are now part of the default and the camera system is very powerful.

Lifejogger, I have the exact same set up as you and I can turn ground textures up high, water effect high, and autogen dense. Don't worry about it, you will definitely be in the higher end category.

You should be able to enjoy FSX with moderate settings with that combo. Another Gig of RAM would give you a boost.

I think you're right, Tom, and being the diehard 2D fan I can't believe I'm saying that ;D. Incredible how far VCs have come in just the last 2 or 3 years. This one is a masterpiece. And a default one --- ! Thanks for the screenshots! Wayne

I have been looking into getting some more RAM but to get 2g I have to buy 1g each as I have two 512M now. The prices I have seen for 1g is around $139 so that about $278 or 2. A little pricey,
