The Apache is one of my favorite aircraft from the Lyons'. One of my favorite period. I imported it over, and was glad to see the model and some of the gauges ported over but not the .gau files. So what needs to happen is new .xml files to be written in place of the .gau files and the apache can fly for FSX, the question becomes where do I get permission to modify the Apache. This would be an apprentice project for me, learning to create gauges, on an aircraft I love to fly. I would just like to have permission from somebody, preferably the Lyons themselves before I start working on their great project. I'm willing to do all the work, maybe witha few questions and advice Michael Lockwood

Hi there. If you're doing it for own use you don't need permission at all but as you're creating an add-on and not modifying the original model you don't need permission anyway. If you use gauges created by other modellers and decide to upload your add-on for the community (and why not...) then you'd need permission from each designer of the gauges you include in your package. However, here's a hint. MS have included a very varied range of historical/classic/veteran/modern aircraft in the last two sims that use a great range of XML gauges. It's not that difficult to un-cab the gauge files you are interested in, extract the bits you want from one or more of them, modify code/substitute bmps and so on and then re-cab your new package. That way you can just go ahead and do it with maybe a courtesy acknowledgement to MS in your package if you want. The reason is that all xml gauges are fundamentally based on MS's originals - they have to be

I don't believe Lynn & Bill would have a problem with you building a new panel for the Apache. The gauges and panel.cfg can be packaged seperately for upload with instructions for use, so it would be your own work in any case. If you need permission for anything specific, just drop me a PM and I'll check with them for you. They are on holiday at the moment so it might be a couple of weeks.
I would certainly like to see the Apache working in FSX.
