This plane has always appeared like a sort of nazi project that someone found in a box and took to England. It count only for the Victor, there's something more "british" on the other V-Bombers that you can recognize at once.

Hi Windrunner:
On the contrary, the HP Victor looks very British to me. The funny dewlap on the fusalage reminds me of the Hampden, and the dramatic multiple sweep back angles and engines buried in the wing roots are very British.
You are right that the Victor is a very sinister looking nuclear bomber. After all, she was designed for the desperate, apocalyptic nuclear war the CIA and British intelligence were convinced was coming around the end of 1957.
We even have a description of that war, 'Operation Dropshot', the US war planning document written in 1949. You can find a copy at Bookfinder.com.
Its very, very scary. Waves of bombers from all directions, always coming over at night - very high attrition - 100% for the V-bomber force ... the loss of all of Continental Europe by D60, except perhaps for a toehold in Brittany ... and the collapse of British society by the same date - literally bombed back into the Stone Age.
The Victors would have been taking off at dusk into the last battle at the end of time, and were not expected to return. Maybe that explains the Wagnarian look they have.
Lucky for us it didn't come off, and we got the Beatles instead.

Very interesting, attaway, Dr. Strangelove times were they, isn't?. Now that you mention the engines in the wings roots, well, yes, that's as British as a Mini Cooper in Trafalgar Square. Even if some Tupolevs were designed like that too there was something definitely "wrong" about them. Of all the three V the Valiant is the one I like more. Looks like a Hunter in steroids! or the Canberra's elder brother; and was the one with the british profile (more than ugly Vulcan).
