I've gotten a copy of Airport 2.10 running now and it works really great with FS98. ;D I'm brand new to scenery design so I thought I'd shorten the learning curve. What I'd like to do is create some small scenery vignettes that are compatible with FS98 and the original Golden Wings.
I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions you might have! ;D
BFIG, If anyone is aware of a camping tent (pup tent) or similar small, single person tent macro for Airport 2.10 let me know! Thanks!

Hi Christopher, good to hear you're getting into scenery design. But before you get too involved, might I suggest that you think very carefully about the sim version you design for.
FS98 is so, so obsolete now that practically nobody else will be interested in the stuff you spend your hours making. I'll even be surprised if you get many (any?) replies in this thread, although I may be wrong.
I would suggest that you go no further back than FS9 because of the changes that were made in the scenery engine. That way what you make will also work perfectly in GW3 whereas FS98 stuff won't. Also not only can you use Airport 2.10 (which is itself regarded now as an obsolete design tool, sorry) but you can also use ADE (Airport Design Editor) which was created by our very own Scruffyduck here on the forum and which now also comes in two flavours - FS9 AND FSX. That way not only will you be able to create stuff for FS9/GW3 but by switching version within ADE, you'll also be able to use your skills to create stuff that will work in the very latest sim version.
Please think about it - IMO if you go for FS98 you will end up wasting an awful lot of effort that would be much better directed towards the more recent sim versions.

Hi Christopher, good to hear you're getting into scenery design. But before you get too involved, might I suggest that you think very carefully about the sim version you design for. Roger Thanks for the advice, Roger! ;D I know that FS9 and FSX are the latest and greatest and that FS98 has probably passed "Fossil Flight Simulator" status a long time ago! As Tom can probably tell you I have a sore spot for dead dinosaurs even after I took over "The Old Hangar". Actually, I've spoken to others on another FS site that still use FS98 for one reason or another. Usually they still have older boxes that WinXP wont run on. I do appreciate your pointing out Scruffyduck's contribution to Flight Simming, but I'm still going to hang in with FS98 and I'm just letting know like-minded simmers here on the new "The Old Hangar" that there is someone they can come to with questions! ;D Thank you! Hey Christopher- I had no luck finding a tent macro but I did find the Delag and the zip appears to be OK. If you still need it, PM me your e-mail and I'll send it along.
------------- There's an API at avsim: tent2man.zip It's made for FS9 so will likely be invisible in FS98 but you may be able to edit the texture and the macro itself.

I VOD'd a very nice Dock API last night so when I get back next week I'll try my hand at Vodding some tents. Thanks for sending DELAG, I think it's the only one I wasn't able to recover. ;D ChristopherT
