Hi guys. I am a newbie at this site. Have downloaded & installed Bill Lyons wonderfull package including the Pietenpol Air Camper & Stinson etc. Fantastic & great fun, only problem is I cannot start the engine on the Pietenpol...The only way I can start it is to load another aircraft in it's place, start the engine then reload the Piet. which then has the engine running. It then flies great, but if I kill the engine it will not restart. I have tried starting in the normal way by selecting full rich mixture, turn on the mags and then crank the engine. Even tried a little throttle, but she just won't fire up! Is there a petrol tap somewhere? Or what am i missing? Sure would appreciate some help!! Galp.

Hi Windrunner, thanks for the prompt reply. NOPE! not even with "CTRL+E" NUTHIN' except the poor bloke pulling on the prop saying "clear" All my other aircraft start OK including the Stinson Reliant and the Primary Glider included in the Custom Classics package. I have even deleted the file then re downloaded it but still no joy with the Pietenpol....Go figure!

Regarding the above problem. I have installed the package [using the self installer] into my main FS 2004 folder. Is this the correct place to put it? The files all seem to be in the right places and everything else is working just fine.....Just a thought.

If you installed everything correctly it should work. What is you operative sistem? vista users should allow the use of some gauges when asked (I am an old XP owner but for what I've heard that could be the case).

Yep, I am using XP too, and like I said, every other aircraft works just fine. I give up, it's annoying but I can live with it. Thanks for the help.

Sorry I missed this. Next time you have a question, please start a new topic, it makes it much easier to see. Anyway, I think your problem is Mixture/Idle cutoff. See this from the readme file:
"The flight starts with the mixture at lean so use the mouse to set it for full rich. You must use exaggerated movements after grabbing the knob with the mouse!"
I think you'll find it starts just fine with the mixture at full rich.
Also, if you don't have the version uploaded here at TOH you might want to grab it. Its better than the versions at the major sites

Thanks Tom. Like I said I am a newbie at this and have never posted a question before, so did not know the drill for starting a new topic. I will do better next time. In regard to your suggestions I always start up with full rich mixture, have tried using the mouse or CTRL+SHIFT+F4, also I have this programmed into one of my joy stick buttons. I initially had another version which had the same problem, so I tried the TOH download...Same result no matter what!!! I have saved a flight with the motor running, so I guess that will have to do until I can find the answer. Thankyou for your help, much appreciated.

Bummer, I thought sure the mixture was the problem. I'll give it a try here tomorrow.
