Described by Jimmy Doolittle as, "... the greatest stick-and-rudder man who ever lived......Robert A. "Bob" Hoover. 'He needs know explanation from me or any one, just "CHECK"him out.///Once I was working at our local Air Show, Sullivan County. NY,and had a rare opportunity to chat with, and see him up close...,I shook hands with him,and haven't washed it since. ;D..he was magnificent that day, this plane and his "YELLER P-51 Mustang.Along with "Art Scholl, Leo Loundenslager, Oscar Boesch, the great Joe Hughes, and many more" Bill Bordeleau, the announcer, gave his usual "Tell all"thing .....my best all time air show, the crowd was small, and it had an intimate flavor, and those guys did it all!..Real Professionals all!! ..Thanx for the Memory!

I heard something over here that Bob Hoover had passed away recently (August?). Is it true? I thought the old bird was still going strong at 88. I know his Aero Commander is in a museum ever since he gave up show flying but it was news to me that he might have passed on.

Hi Roger,I heard that also thru the "GRAPE VINE".... that Bob Hoover passed away on August the 13th aged 88. If this is true, then the world has lost one of the greatest aerobatic pilots .However an event like the passing of Mr. Hoover, should have generated far more of an impact in the Aviation community!...uless others with the facts say otherwise,I still have doubts!! In any event ,I wish him well,in this world or the other!!.................................."Into to the wind Roger..into the wind"....Vin!!

I did a quick internet search. It appears that he's still alive. I think there would've been quite a news fiasco if he had passed.
