I want to disable the textures for the 3 chimney power stations, & the huge stone churches (see attachment) I see scattered around my GW3 landscape, & all those huge tower blocks too while I'm at it. Can someone point me to the textures I need to find, please? Thanks, Terry. Attachments:

Thanks...yes, if you mean the extras then I have the updates but I still see 100s of these power stations & churches around the landscape.
I got rid of taxiway signs & all those highway lamp posts & road signs by removing some textures I was told about. I'll see if I can get back to him & see of knows......

In Scenery\Generic\texture, try replacing nuclear01.bmp and nuclear01_lm.bmp with pure black textures. That should make he cooling towers invisible but be advised they will still be there and you can still crash into them.
I can't find the church.

Terry, I'm also monitoring your topic over at SimV. You should advise Joe that you are trying to modify your GW3 install, not default FS9. I do not have GW3 installed but do have the files archieved. I see no changes to the 'default.xml' between FS9 and GW3 that relate to the 2 items your working on. Also, I have not found any .agn files that should effect the objects in that area (London). The church is 'ag_building_5' and is found once in the default.xml file as mentioned by Joe. If you remove the entry the church should be replaced (by a shopping center). You must remove the entire entry, not just the name, being careful not to remove or change anything else. <LIBRARYOBJECT> <NAME>ag_Building_5</NAME> <GUID>999b34c1417209cc934a14a3ffa8a871</GUID> </LIBRARYOBJECT> The 'power station is 'ag_factory' and is not found in the default.xml file, so is used universally. The only reasonable way to remove them is using excludes. The textures for both objects are on texture sheets (.bmps) that contain textures for many objects, so removing the .bmps is probably not an option. Not sure what you mean by 'huge tower blocks'. If you're referring to nuclear plants then Tom's method will work, although as I recall you'll still have the beacons attached to them. (Note-the 'gen_powerstation01' you removed is a power grid sub-station, not a building with stacks) Dave Update-4:34pm CST: Have GW3 installed now, from a backup I located. See what you mean by 100's. Hovering over Heathrow and count at least a dozen churches in spitting distance. Certainly more than seen in default FS9. Will get back to you later.

Terry, I'm making some headway. I've found that in the GW3 default.xml file there are indeed many instances where the church (ag_building_5) and the 'power plant' (ag_factory) were substituted for other objects. It wasn't apparent when I first searched for object name, but did show up when i searched for GUID. The GUIDs were changed but the names were not (the guid is all the sim cares about internally). I'm going to try to edit the default.xml to replace most of the churches with a varied selection of buildings. If that works I'll move on to the 'power plants'. There are also modified autogen (.agn) files involved, but I think the problem can be handled in the default.xml. I hope so as I haven't a clue on working with .agn files. If anyone else has any help or suggestions, please jump in. Also does everyone/anyone else see the excessive number of churches (cathedrals) in the area around Heathrow in GW3. Dave PS. Terry, I also sent JoBee a pm over at SimV telling him of my findings.

Terry,
Sorry to hear about your loss. I extend my condolences.
I've sent you an e-mail with an edited default.xml file. It replaces most of the churches and factories (power stations) with other buildings. I only edited the 'Europe' region as that appeared the be the region most effected.
If there are other areas you think need adjusting let me know by pointing out specific locations.
Dave

I haven't yet flown much in Europe with GW3 but with Valkyrie I will soon. Dave, would it be a good idea to post that file? If not, would you mind sending it to me?

Rich,
I don't know that there is enough call for the file to warrant posting it for download.
If you would PM or e-mail me with your e-mail address, I can send the file.
Cheers, Dave
