In the Soviet Union in the 1930s the following design was revealed:
I started working on the plane for FS2002, FS2004, and CFS2. In all three simulators, the cockpit interior is detailed, with opening roof hatch.
But what sets it apart from anything else you may have flown is that you when you give the command to fold the wings, the plane converts to a submarine! If you are inside the cockpit when the transformation takes place, your viewpoint moves to the rear of the cockpit, up the ladder, and into the conning tower, where you are viewing through the plane's periscope. and around the conning tower. Outside, you can watch the plane sink underwater until just the periscope is sticking out.
It is really neat, but not perfect; the wake action is wrong, and while I hoped you could launch the torpedo underwater in CFS2, the simulator is too smart for that. But, it otherwise works as intended.
I had reached the point in it's construction when all of the parts were made and I only had some interior texturing left to do when I decided to retexture the outside. My outside texture mapping left a lot to be desired in terms of repainting it; and I used the same textures on more than one part, which made it more difficult to texture.
That was when I had the triple disaster of having my work computer with all of my design tools changed out AND lost both computers at home. I managed to salvage my work on one of my home computers, so nothing was lost, but I have yet to re-install my tools and get back into the swing of things. Someone asked me if they could see it, so I made the decision to release it as-is for your review and enjoyment. You can download it directly from the following link:

The possible repetition of approach to target was considered as one of the essential advantages of the underwater- air torpedo bomber over traditional submarines. - Yes, you CAN sink underwater, and surface again, using the wing fold command. VC view moves back and up into the conning tower (central control), where you are looking at the surface through the periscope!
