While I mostly enjoy flying GA aircraft...... you can't help but marvel how far Flightsimming has come. If you have a little time......take a look at this cockpit overview of the new 737 PMDG is about to release in the next week or so. Amazing work......a true work of art! vimeo.com/26700490Cheers,

Amazing!! Really wish it was practical to have my desktop shipped to me out here so I could try it out.
Tom, Who made that 182 model? I know there's a G1000 C-172 in FSX as default but not a 182, from what I remember.
Avionics are fascinating the more complex they get. And I'm still learning about the simple TACAN, ADF, VOR, etc....

You do know that you can pick up VOR on the Tacan too right? (Obviously DME and ident only.) I used to sweet talk OPs out of a Flight Information Handbook every now and then to carry in my flight bag. In the back of the book it would give you a break down of the Tacan to VOR Freq's. It would come in handy every now and then when troubleshooting a suspected Tacan problem while enroute somewhere......plus it was a nice supplement to your tacan. The old FS3 used to have tacan stations listed......seems to me Camp Pendleton was 28x I think (109.10) which would make 28y = 109.15. I've worked on several Tacan's over the years.....probably the 105 is the one I remember the most. Ahhhh.....The good old days!!! (smile) Cheers, BTW..... I believe that is Flight 1's new T182T www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1t182t

I believe that is Flight 1's new T182T www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1t182tI'm finishing up the Comm portion of the course right now, so we've only skimmed the surface of TACAN at the moment. That will come more in depth in a few blocks ahead, which is also known to be the most failed block of the course. My knowledge of the VOR/TACAN combo is from my flight instructor mentioning that they are called vortacs. Other then that, I don't have a good idea of how they work. I'll have to come back when I have a better understanding of the TACAN... The C182 G1000 looks great, I would like to try it out to become more familiar with the glass cockpit - once I'm back in California I plan to rent a C172 w/G1000 out of Palo Alto.
