Ever since Flight Sim came along,I was looking for a model that felt right ,when flying!..most all are beautiful.War birds, heavy iron,Copters and most.but in the SEL class I came close ,but never really pleased...Real air ,is very close. Years ago they offered a freeware C-172..Something that realistically most fly in the real world.Once ya got past that paint job,the plane flew well,.One of the few which reflected "Slips" I had re painted the thing, installed, and with new lipstick ,I flew her in FS9...Darn ,i said ,this is what need in FSX...SOOO! I ported it over, with new face, untouched, clean port over!and VOLUA!,,,IT FLYS GREAT.....So much so and realistic. To me at least! Now my default start up in FSX....no before ya think the old guy is losing it,I ask you to try it!..More so real pilots!....I know,I know,Snicker if you like,But Me?? the model flys great.... WHEW!,Guess Il have one more Margaretta after that. ;D....Vin REALAIR C-172SP.......Before and After...FS( FSX!!..Sorry NO GLASS!..GREAT!

It's been my experience that the nicest airplanes to fly in flightsim are trainers. The go-fasters and the super-heavies tend to bog down the CPU and cause issues. The trainers offer the right speeds for the CPUs and are easier to run around the pattern.

Hi railrunner, I agree to a point.I got a lot of time in C-172s,C-150s,Cherokees....found them to be honest..They of course are pounded pretty good by Hopeless Students!..But if a Plane is rigged right, they are great teachers....regarding this model? I personally feel comfortable with it.Got no time in Heavy Iron,Neither the big multi engines...so I cannot judge.but with this old Model,I found flight characteristics familiar!..True its not a new Glass, super Paint, brand new,Plane...but go to any General aviation airport...see What really are tied down...Older Cessna's,and Pipers. Many older than the students they will task!
Maybe I'm making a thing with this, however for Me?..Flying familiar places on the Sim, VFR,is so much like the real thing!.....Trainers are not easy, try a J3.All ,however,in cross winds are a Sweaty Palm thing...Like flying a KITE!!
The only other plane I gave High Marks to for Sim Authenticity is the SIAI-Marchetti SF.260..Complex high Performance!.As real as It Can get!!..on the sim!!........My thoughts only,!!Cheers !..its FUN ,and thanx!!

Vin, Just saw this thread, and I totally agree with you. There have been a couple FDE mods for the default FS 9 C-172 that give the bird a very realistic feel, and makes for an enjoyable flight. Another good airplane to try is Tim Conrad's L-19 Navion. It's also another classic GA plane that flies very realistically. Alan

Vin.....just saw the post and as always, I agree 100%.
All the RealAir stuff has always been super and my favorites!! Their Scout/Deke package for FSX has been one of my very favorites too. Had to change out their strobe lights....(too fast).....but other than that.............Perfection!!!!
Cheers,
