I just read on the Flight facebook page that the aircraft to be included will be a BASIC model of the Carbon Cub. Another half airplane. OK, Joshua buddy, your mission is to alienate every single MSFS user? Good for you. You just got me. I will occasionally enjoy what I have now (Hawaii) and try not to think about what might have been. As for the future of flight? Good Luck Joshua. I'm out.
Edit: Reconsidered in the cool light of dawn... see below.

Well from what I'm Learning here..and elsewhere,."FLIGHT" is a Game...And for all its eye candy it is not a Sim. If all this is true, talk of Planes with out Cockpits,,and if true,. then It would be disappointing.By now Microsoft should have reveled what ALASKA Flight is to be?...they Bait us with nice looking scenery, but the very definition of "FLIGHT" means FLYING,CONTROLLED FLIGHT,IN a Cockpit..with gauges.. Yes flying like a RC plane is fun,but not for me!.For PRETTY Pictures ,why I will look at National Geographic or something!...then again they never did say "AS REAL AS IT CAN GET"...So It Seems we have a "GAME" a glorified PIN BALL MACHINE.Good for Desk Top Ego's...I do not detect that PILOTS were involved in this development!. Why would an ultralight be chosen for ALASKA!...If the MAULE still can be used in ALASKA,mabey I will go for it..I will block out all the "GAMES" and Fly..letting my imagination show the way!...but Then again I have to ask my self why??....certainly my FS9,and FSX,with huge hangers, state of the art planes, designed by talented people who love flight...Great Scenery, that I can improve...,.As I write this I'm watching WILD ALASKA!....Soon as the program is over,I will Go to Barrow,Fire up my Cessna Grand Caravan ,.Plot a course, check the weather,.and then let the adventure begin.Flying VFR,and IFR..with A tower to talk too,and LIFE on the Surface!...However my great grand kids Love FLIGHT...They now can use it at will....as My FSX, andFS9 are VERBOTEN!..thanx for allowing me to BLOVIATE!
GREAT PIC TOM!!..KEEP SMILING!...

I am with you Tom, when everyone around me was saying how bad Flight was, I always liked it for what it was. I was really looking forward to Alaska, but now that they are only including a basic aircraft with Alaska, I will spend that money elsewhere. As far as I am concerned MS would have been better off selling Alaska as scenery only, without aircraft, then bundle an aircraft that for any of simulator pilots that are still using Flight would refuse purchase or fly.

Well, I typed in anger the other day. That is always a bad idea. Now that the dust has more or less settled on the latest half-airplane, I have calmed down a bit. I have not decided to buy Alaska yet, but my resolve to not buy it has softened. I am now in wait & see mode. There is rampant speculation on the other forums but NOBODY knows ANYTHING. Microsoft continue their silent marketing. I guess if they say nothing, nobody can sue them. I'd like to be tough about this whole thing and vote "NO" by closing my wallet but the problem is, Flight is so much more fun than previous versions and I WANT Alaska. I don't know what I will do...

Like I had said,if ,the MAULE was a plane I could use in ALASKA,I too would go for it....however!..unless ALASKA offers a REALISTIC plane, for such a Huge Area and complements Alaska,?..I will not..that simple.as far as the Hawaii version,I like the Scenery, and the Planes offered.tho limited!...However...I will sit back, let it all unfold, ...reflect,review,and then will make a decision!....But War Birds, no cockpits,Half Planes??? Let the Gamers enjoy..as my Grand kids do with a new toy!

when everyone around me was saying how bad Flight was, Like you, I don't think it's 'bad' Mike, it's the way we simmers look at it. Flight, another sim. And it's not a sim, it's a game. With the closure of Aces, Microsoft said that they quit making sims. Train-sim, flight-sim, it all came to an end. And that is what they did. Microsoft never made another sim. And of course, they weren't very open and honest when Flight was announced, the whole sim community was wondering, could this be the next generation? Is this FSXI? And Microsoft never said no. As a game it's fun, beautiful landscape. For me, that's it. I started with FS4. And there was always the struggle between the hardware and the software. Better computer? Oops, new version of FS. And now I gave up. I stay with FS9. And no more fights, because every three years my computer is getting better and FS9 is winning frames! ;D Theo

I am in wait and see mode. I still have some MS Credits left so I may buy Alaska, just not on day one. If they were to offer a free float & ski version of the Maul (if such a thing exists), I would soften my views somewhat.

I find Flight, Hawaii, and Alaska fits right in with my needs as an armchair pilot. The challenges are fun, but I mostly fly for the enjoyment, and that means I'm flying in simulation mode, or Free Flight. So, like many of you, I fly FLIGHT for what it is and not for what it could be. So far, the money spent has not been out of line, and has given me much enjoyment over FSX. I would never say anything derrogatory towards either FS9 or FSX as I enjoy them too, just not as much as FLIGHT as it's performance is outstanding for me.

My problem is that I enjoy Flight a lot more than I have enjoyed FS since FS4 in '90-'93. I want more than Microsoft seem inclined to give me... I still have FS8/FS9/FSGW3 & FSX but I just like the immersion, the feeling of flying in Flight better. I hope there will be some full deluxe model bush aircraft and I hope they come soon. I want more. Now.

No, it won't come the way we want it. We'll have to take what we get and enjoy it or get used to disappointment because they have a plan and will follow it for 2 years. Then we'll see who is still here and where we are going.

I am with John - I loved all the flight games, including the entire FS series, FU, Fly, ProPilot, the Spectrum HoloByte and Microprose titles (that takes you back, doesn't it?) ;D
They have all been good, all enjoyable in one way or another. I cannot hate any of them, and do not understand or agree with those who do. This is a hobby, a fun pastime, it is meant to be enjoyable, not a source of anger or discontent.
But, I should say that as far as simulating flight goes, this "game" is the best flight simulator I have ever known. The airplanes are a joy to fly and that is what it is all about.
But, people want it all, and the very limited content is what has mostly provoked the anger. But, anger has no place here, life is too short for that. Enjoy what you can, and if you can't, then find something to enjoy.
Best regards. Luis

I finally took the plunge after my initial skepticism. Downloaded it and was impressed with the graphics. However, did the first landing and got the aerocache under the bridge. Yawn. It didn't hold my interest like FS9 or FSX and after 15 minutes exited the game and uninstalled it. I don't think I'll miss anything. Back to FSX for a real imersive experience.
Cheers,
Gary
