I must admit, I only searched to page 8 or 9 to find a posting.
I seldom use FSX except for SEA flying.
I'm having a heck of a time installing scenery. Fresh from FlightSim.com FSX scenery, I unzip, make sure there's a scenery and a texture sub-folder, place it where I want it (usually in a sub-folder in the Add On Scenery Folder). I go to scenery library, "Add Area" the normal screen comes up, I browse to the scenery's main folder. Most of the time, it won't select. I've tried single clicking, double clicking before hitting OK, but nothing happens. The scenery isn't listed in the area listings (nor, of course, is it indicated as active because it never shows up).
Seems I got help here some time (years?) ago, but cannot find to thread. I've gone through the help folder, "Tips & Tricks," and "Master the Experience," but there's no help in any of those - I think I'm doing it correctly, but seldom does any scenery install.
Anyone know of a typical "FS9er playing with FSX" mistake I'm making???
Many thanx,
Stew

Stew, sounds like the 'Windows 7 bug' issue when installing scenery...
To complete the install, after you click OK and nothing happens.....
Mouse click anywhere in the white space of the folder list area.
If you need, here is a short YouTube tut by Bill Womack-www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8kO1IsJMuE&feature=related

Many Thanx - yes, I upgraded to Win7 some time ago and didn't put to two events (Win7 install/no FSX scenery install) together.
In the vast majority of cases, I use FS9 because I have so much scenery for my places of interest - a vastly less available mass in FSX. I'm not willing to build/rebuild so much of what I have in FS9 into FSX;
However(!), there are some very enticing things coming out in FSX for places I have a high interest in [especially SEA (Thailand/Laos/Cambodia)]. You've assisted me in getting back on track with expanding my Flight Simming horizons!!!
I'll try this fix as soon as I'm off here and some other FS boards I just have to check in with!!!
Again, many thanx!!!
