I must be doing something wrong when I post because 5-6 posts I thought I made have disappeared. Maybe this one will stick:

"66 gallons of primer & paint over 112 hours". It sure resulted in a nice livery. Bruce

Good Stuff Tom!!!!
I couldn't for the life of me, figure out which railroad....until I saw the Stallion. My brother-in-law worked for NS for almost 40 years.....started of course when it was Northfolk Western.
Quite a production indeed.....but looks like a beautiful piece of work!!
Cheers,

I love spray painting. The worst part is all the cleaning, rubbing down and preparation but taking off the last bit of masking at the end always makes it worthwhile. Imagine what's involved in cleaning, degreasing and preparing a locomotive for spraying, for goodness sake. I recently loaned my compressor and spray gun to someone to spray their aircraft. When I loaned it, it was all pristine and looked like new but when I saw it at his place it looked far from. I must see about getting it back - I just hope he's spent some time cleaning it up again

I once loaned a fellow elevator mechanic (a fitter....I was a sparky) my tools (this was back in the 1960s) and when he returned the toolbox, every item he'd used, from screwdrivers to spanners, had black greasy handprints all over them. Even now, if my wife uses a tool, I'm quite anal about it being replaced from where she got it and in a clean and tidy state....electrical leads coiled and secured, drill removed from the chuck, etecetera. I saw that engine not too long ago. It comes through town now and then. Some other cool engines are the NS Heritage units. NS painted one of our units last year (NS unit #1776). Don
