I bought Stevens Pass instead. Had to update to TS2014 in order to install it but all appears to have proceeded without any errors.
A disappointing aspect of this package (and Marias Pass previously) is the lack of end-to-end scenarios. I don't know why the authors don't include them.

That's the beauty of Quick Drive. You can select your start & destination and then just drive.

That's the beauty of Quick Drive. You can select your start & destination and then just drive. Yeah.....but I like to see some traffic, Tom. Not necessarily interacting with it but at least to have one or two crosses (meets) so that I don't appear to be the only train on the route. I like this route, tho'.........it's as good as Marias Pass. Bruce

Most of the newer routes (those created since the advent of quick drive) have plenty of AI so you are not alone out there. I don't know about Stevens Pass, but for example, on a run down the Great Eastern I met 11 trains and passed a freight being held on a passing track. Even on the Western end of Western Lines Of Scotland, which is single track, I passed 2 trains on sidings with steam up, waiting for me to pass. And QD is not all greens either. You do need to watch the signals even as an express.
I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I started using quick drive as a training exercise to learn a route and an engine, but now it is almost all I do.

I discovered this aspect of the QD facility when doing a QD of Stevens Pass. A great idea.....much better than "explore" mode in MSTS, for example. By-the-way, I uploaded three (consecutive parts) scenarios this afternoon for Marias Pass. They are at the TS2014 Workshop address. Entitled "hbp on Marias Pass Pt.1" (and 2 and 3). I also bought the Surfliner route. My problem is that I have these (Marias, Stevens, Surf, Donner, Cajon) on MSTS and just HAVE to compare! Bruce

So, how is Pacific Surfliner? I'm tempted, but resisting I like it, Tom. It beats the pants off the original pay-ware Facing Point Media release (for MSTS) back in 2007/8 and is equal to either of the freeware versions made available more recently. I'm not a great user of passenger trains but this route makes it quite enjoyable. Bruce

I'm about an hour South of LA with about 90 minutes to San Diego and I'm pretty impressed with the scenery. It looks like there are a lot of freight possibilities around LA. Ooops I just flew through Laguna Niguel at 95 mph... Texting while driving

There was a good freight Activity done for the freeware v1 route - started in one of the yards near the LA terminal and then picked up at Hobart Yard before continuing to San Diego.
I might consider doing something along those lines for TS2014 if I get a spare moment.

I picked up the Surfliner a week or more ago, as I spent the better part of my Marine Corps Career at Camp Pendlenton. (Between Oceanside and Laguna Niguel). I must say, that while the scenery isn't EXACT....it's pretty darn close!!! I like it!!!
Cheers,

.... I spent the better part of my Marine Corps Career at Camp Pendlenton. .... Then you'd no doubt be very familiar with the lyrics of this little ditty from 1963, Steve?

No Bruce.....I can say I've never heard this one before. (smile) Can't say I'll put it in my top 10...but thanks for sharing. Funny though....I used to hang out at Huntington Beach, when I first came to California. Never did try surfing though....it just never did much for me. (smile)
Cheers,

A #1 hit for them and one of the few instances where the A ("Wipeout", in this case) and B sides both went into the Top 40 world-wide. The year 1963 was the peak of the "surfing" sound....Jan & Dean, Beach Boys, etc.. I spent many a romantic evening around a b-b-q fire on the beach dancing to this kind of stuff in '63/'64.
