As most of you know.....I prefer Steam Trains over the others. Over the Christmas Sale, I picked up quite a few at the bargin prices. Some are really nice............and some are REALLY nice. (smile) One of the little gems I found was the 2-8-0 Consolidation by Smokebox. (It's at Steam for around $20) This little engine has quickly become a very favorite......especially on a small scenery package such as Fort Kent in Maine. I was a little overwhelmed at first....as it's a little more detailed than most of the steam engines....but a lot of nice features and the construction is suburb. Moving the reverser, you can actually see the linkage moving when viewing from the camera. Same as the drain cocks on the cylinders, etc., etc. Things seem to work correctly as near as I can tell. Here's a little video on the train and some features....although some of this isn't done correctly according to the manual.....but none-the-less....it will give you a little idea of what it's all about. If you enjoy steam engines....don't miss checking this one out. So far....probably in the top 3 of the engines I own....if not my #1 favorite. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDgtrTe25ggCheers,

Very, VERY nice. Thanks for the info and the link to the video - which, by-the-way, prompts me to have a look at what Bandicam offers. I'm not a great fan of simulated steam locos, having considered the sounds just not realistic. They never seem to capture everything that is heard from a steam loco. But this is amazing! I just may have to buy this one, Steve. Bruce

This is the railroad equivalent of those complicated, realistic flight-sim products! My thoughts EXACTLY Bruce!! BTW....you won't be dissappointed in the sounds. It's filled with hisses etc., that I would expect with a steam loco. Plus...I failed to mention....with this engine, you can actually get a "runaway" train. If you tend to "pump" the brakes; i.e., apply brakes...release brakes....apply brakes...release brakes, etc., you will eventually empty your steam supply and no more brakes. (smile) I believe it outlines it in the manual fairly well. As I said earlier....it was originally a little "over whelming" because of the complexity.....however, I'm now an "old" pro at this thing, but still learning and getting better at it's operation. Cheers, BTW....I might add that the "tutorial" in the actual Train Sim moved a little too quickly for me. It's also printed in the manual, so I created a "Quick Drive" scenerio, and followed my printed version of the tutorial. That worked perfectly!!!

Thanks, Steve. I've yet to commit to buying it but when I do I'll read that manual thoroughly! Bruce
