Ah, Vin, so right. If I'd known then what I know now about group ownership and selling off shares, I'd never have sold that aircraft when I did. Very capable, short field landing and take off, great little airplane. And much as I wouldn't turn down a shiny new metal one if someone gave it to me, I just like veteran fabric covered aircraft. I sure did love my old Tripacer.

Nice to see that almost 50% of the total built are still capable of flying. I bet 50% of all the 707s built aren't in the same category!

Some aircraft are classics the moment they are built!!! Cheers, How very true, Steve. The Cessna 172 comes to mind, as does the Tiger Moth.

I had my first go at controlling an aeroplane in a 172. VH-TOQ it was registered, flown by a work colleague who was working as a draftsman in order to earn money towards getting his commercial license (which he finally achieved - flying for MacRobertson-Miller in Western Australia). The year was 1967.

I had my first go at controlling an aeroplane in a 172. Just like your first love.......Always remembered!!!! (smile) Mine was a Grumman American Tiger.....Evening flight from Quantico, VA. to Dullas Airport for a touch and go and return. What a lovely little airplane. My first solo was in a Cessna 152, N757JB. Cheers,

My first solo was in a Cessna 152, N757JB. Cheers, Steve, I would imagine that more people have done their first solo in a Cessna 150/152 than in any other aircraft. I did. Be interesting to find out if that's true. Roger

Me, like most it was the C-150 Commuter.....This a far cry from the Cubs,Aeronca,Luscombe,Citabria, and all Tail draggers..The C-150 was a money maker for Flight schools .Many did it in the ERCOUPE...but they had restrictions in a NON PEDAL plane..BUT no matter how ya do it ..ITS GREAT!

That probably is true Roger.......many schools here in the States used those. The Airfield I flew from (Fallbrook, L-18) had 2 Cessna 152's. The owner of the field had a VERY nice Cessna 150, however, over time I was one of the very few folks she let fly her personal plane. In many ways, I enjoyed flying the 150 over the 152's. Cheers,

WOW!!!...... AOPA’s ‘152Reimagined,’ a yellow-and-black refurbished Cessna 152, caused a flurry of excitement at the association’s exhibit during EAA AirVenture. Pilots interested in flying clubs and aircraft partnerships were interested in the aircraft’s price point—about $65 an hour—which makes it a viable option as an affordable, entry-level aircraft for flight training or ownership. The 152Reimagined is part of the Reimagined Aircraft concept that AOPA and Aviat Aircraft are working on to test whether older Cessna 150/152s can be refurbished to as-new conditions at an affordable price. Aviat is purchasing, refurbishing, and reselling the certified aircraft. Cessna 150s are estimated to come in at $89,900, and Cessna 152s at $99,900.
