Unexpected and very sad. What an awful year this has been - the list just keeps growing longer by the day it seems. Let's hope this is the last bit of bad news.

When I first saw Star Wars (the original title) it was in 1977.....the year it was released. My wife and I had been married for just on 4 years and had moved to our new house in Winmalee (Blue Mts) in 1976. We drove the 60km down to Parramatta, a western suburb of Sydney (and now the actual geographical centre of the greater Sydney metropolitan area) and saw the movie at the beautiful Roxy theatre. I think I pressured my wife, who had lovely long hair at the time, to try the Princess Leia style....which she refused to do. This is the theatre....a national historic site because of its Art Deco architecture.......... cinematreasures.org/theaters/1286/photos

Yesterday a friend and I saw 'Star Wars: rogue One' and the last scene has a very realistic CGI reconstruction of Princess Leia as she was in the original 1977 movie. Knowing that Carrie Fisher had died in the previous twenty-four hours gave a slightly creepy chill. Well, I felt one anyway.

I've just had a newsflash ("breaking news" from the Grafton Daily Examiner) - Debbie Reynolds has been rushed to hospital suffering the effects of a stroke. Must have been the trauma & stress of her daughter's death. Debbie, of course, will always be remembered by me as Tammy.

The Assisted Living place I have my Mom at now there is a lady a couple doors down that grew up across the street from Debbie Reynolds. I've enjoyed her stories of her watching Debbie play in the yard when she was a young girl. My.....Life is shorter than we all think. Cheers,

Just seen the news that Debbie Reynolds has also passed away, one day after her daughter. I agree, life is very short.

Every time I learn of the death of a personality with whom I grew up.....watching their movies, listening to their music, seeing them in TV shows......it just makes me feel so bloody ancient.
