Me, I'm just a 74 year old out-of-control rebel. But thankfully still a free-thinker. Oh, I am sure that at our age we are all "free thinkers", Rog. It's just that not all of us have an anarchistic streak. As for Aus being a nanny-state, I thank Christ it isn't administered by the likes of some of the "free thinkers" out there, such as the cretin in Brazil, just to mention one (which shouldn't offend anyone here!)

Bruce.....I'm with you mate!! Look at the mess the States are in because folks don't take this serious. I'm just thankful this virus ISN'T any worse as that would be tragic. Watched a great video from a surgeon early on that explains how this virus kills and why the doctors and surgeons can't help you.....or have challenges trying to help folks. While long.....I found it interesting and puts everything in perspective of why this virus is killing so many folks of all ages. (It starts slow...but later in the video where he demonstrates how this virus is actually killing is quite enlightening.) Here's a link if anyone is interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J0d59dd-qM&t=1249sFor me....I'm staying close to home for now. In my simple mind I look at the COVID-19 thing with this analogy. I seriously doubt at my age etc., etc., I will be trampled or die from stampede. However, I'm not planning a trip to Spain to participate in the "Running of the Bulls" either. Don't know the numbers on how many flirt with that craziness each year and I suppose there would be more than one individual that would try to convince me it's totally safe......BUT......I have lived long enough to respect my own idea that isn't a good idea for me.....especially for someone of my age. If I was young and or just an out of control rebel....I might think about attempting that. (smile) Best wishes to all and be thankful Aus isn't controlled by the "free thinkers". Trust me.....I have seen the evil side of that ordeal. Cheers!

Steve, that is a very enlightening - and frightening! - video. Last Wednesday I listened to a nurse (in the hospital on the Gold Coast where my wife was having a subcutaneous heart-monitor fitted) say that if everyone knew that ventilators are NOT an oxygen mask but that a tube is inserted down the throat and into the bronchial passage then more people might treat it more seriously. Because, as the doctor in the video says, by that time you are at death's door. Nope....not for me, mate. I'll heed what those with far more knowledge than I have are telling us to do. Stay safe.

As of yesterday, America has recorded 3,236,049 cases and 134,597 deaths. Australia has had 9,606 cases and 108 deaths in total. There are definite advantages to living in a so-called nanny state. For one thing, you have a far better chance of staying alive.

Several years ago Bruce had posted one of his dear video's that I miss so much. I had made comment about the lack of traffic as compared to the traffic I was dealing with on a daily basis. My shocker was....at that time.....looking up the population of just Southern California (22 million) and then searching the population of the entirety of Australia to find it's population was 24 million and Australia is not that much smaller then the entirety of the US. (If I recall....about a million square miles is all) Have no idea what the populations are now.......but piece and quite and the polite and respectful people of Australia that I so fondly remember would be a welcome change to me as I grow older. So as I say.....Good on you!! Who knows.....someday we might just be neighbors.....now wouldn't that be lovely!! (Smile) Cheers!

I'll heed what those with far more knowledge than I have are telling us to do. I agree Bruce.....I think it is foolish to do otherwise. Cheers Mate!

In my entire life I have only been a risk-taker when it came to choosing whether to accept a particular job or not......oh, and maybe whether I bet on this horse or that one in my annual Melbourne Cup splurge of $20.

You best be careful what you say Bruce....(smile) I doubt it will ever happen...but then again who knows. I must admit, I've taken quite the fondness to Vegemite....the wife doesn't care for it, but I do enjoy it on my rye toast and/or cheese bagels in the morning. Cheers!

Steve, if you enjoy a smear of the infamous Aussie axle-grease on a slice of toast then you are halfway towards becoming a true-blue citizen, mate. When we were kids we'd have cheese and Vegemite sandwiches in our lunchboxes. The two just go together, so on a cheese bagel it would be perfectly natural.

Hmmm....never even considered a cheese and Vegemite sandwich.....sounds yummy though.....I'll have to give it a go when my new batch of "axle-grease" arrives. (Never thought of it as axle-grease, however, that's exactly what it looks like....Smile) Back to the COVID-19 stuff.....just read this a few moments ago: www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/florida-coronavirus-1-state-has-more-covid-19-cases-than-most-countries/ar-BB16H8an?li=BBnb7KzNotice the recent picture.....no one wearing masks or taking precautions and social distancing.....obviously their measuring stick is shorter than mine. (smile) Here in California, our Governor has just issued shut down orders again for many businesses. One step forward....two steps back. Until folks do what they are instructed to do, I think this yo-yo effect will continue. In the mean time........I can order Vegemite on line so I'm good. (smile) Cheers Mate!

So long as you have your Vegemite, a six-pack or two of a decent (not Fosters!) Aussie beer and some fresh sourdough bread, you'll be right, Steve! And here's a head's up for those of us looking forward to FSim 2020 - it will be released on August 18th. and the PC version will retail (here in Oz) for about AUS$99 from Microsoft's store. I want to get the boxed version, not the digital download version.

All this talk of vegemite is scary. I don't think it has made its way to Maine. But I listen with interest to our CDC news conferences and stay informed. And masked and sanitized. I've been trying to avoid public transportation as much as I can and walk to the grocery during slow hours. And I give thanks for a progressive governor who makes careful and deliberate decisions. So far, we are statistically in better shape than most states. Combination of pro-active leadership, small population and remote location. I'm glad I didn't move to Florida.

I've never been much of a beer drinker, however, if VB was here that perhaps could change everything. (smile) I do keep a little wine on hand to go along with the proper dinner....mostly consisting ANYTHING Italian. Bread.....I usually make my own although I haven't given sourdough a try as yet. There's an easy Italian bread I like, however, I did try my hand at flatbread the other day. After talking Vegemite and cheese......I'm thinking of smearing some VM on the flatbread with some melted cheese. Might just be a new lunch meal for me. FS2020....Oh WOW!! I hadn't heard that bit of news, however, I'll keep my eye open for it. I'm a little divided on the boxed version or digital download. I had the Steam version of FSX and really enjoyed it. It was nice to keep it effortlessly updated. Hmmm....might have to give that a thought. All this talk of vegemite is scary. I don't think it has made its way to Maine. Tom....I get the Vegemite from Amazon. It is an acquired taste I suppose....it was just "okay" when I received my first batch....but then I found the Asiago cheese bagels from Panera Bread and that's the ticket!! I get a bakers dozen bagels on Tuesday for about $6.00 and I'm set for a few weeks. (I have one every few days) Cheers,

So far, we are statistically in better shape than most states. Combination of pro-active leadership, small population and remote location. That sounds exactly like our situation Down Here....and also for our trans-Tasman neighbours. Stay well, Tom.
