How in the world I beat Kofi to these I haven't a clue... On 16th May 1918, German ace Otto Kissenberth shot down an SE5A as his 20th victory, flying the captured Sopwith Camel portrayed here. This appears to be the only known instance of a Camel being flown against its former owners. Kissenberth was the commander of Jasta 23b at the time. The circumstances surrounding the procurement of the Camel by the Germans are unclear. The Camel's original squadron unknown as well. One possibility: The eagle marking was seen on Camels flown by 3 Sqn RNAS / 203 Sqn RAF. SIM-Outhouse is the place to get it.. The second is a Camel that belonged to the USS Texas after World War I. The aircraft was flown off the number 2 Gun Turret SIM-Outhouse is the place to get it as well.. Both repaints and descriptions by Mike Wilson... NOTE: links take you to the description page of each aircraft...
