Hello, Royce, If you want to try a real vintage approach, there's a neat file called rdf_kd.zip at flightsim.com. As near as possible, it recreates the equipment used back in the Golden Era. That is, you set a frequency, then turn your antenna until the frequency strength maxes out. Then you know its direction (or reverse course, as I recall). I haven't installed it as yet in any of my old crates. But I plan to do so. By the way, as a giant leap forward, I can mention that at the moment I'm at 33,000 ft on LH 457 on my way to Frankfurt. The plane has WiFi! Indeed, because Connexion by Boeing is going out of business (or at least getting out of this one...), it's free until the end of the year. It used to be $30/flight. Amazing. Sorry to see it go. Regards. Dennis (PM, if you want to stop by. I'll be here for the next 9 hours or so; LAX/FRA.)

Dennis- Thanks for the reply. I d/l RDF but haven't installed it yet. I like to fly vintage as close to historical as possible so I will probably learn that first.
LAX/FRA is a long haul..75 years or so..RDF to WiFi in the air..enjoy your flight! ;>)

Royce, the RDF is an excellent way to simulate the basic radio navaids of the late twenties and on into the forties. In fact, it is a more correct (period-wise) representation for the period leading up to the 1950's than are NDB's. (I'm currently involved in a project to hopefully make it even more representative of that time. ) Bruce
