Many..... MANY years ago I tried to use a file managing system to control aircraft/gauges installed in FS. It didn't work very well (probably operator error) so I eventually gave up.
I now install aircraft after aircraft.... occasionally deleting something I don't like.... but bottom line, I eventually get an Aircraft directory with TONS of stuff I no longer use. (Not to mention the jammed up gauges folder etc., etc.
Has anyone found any program, Payware OR freeware that works decently with FS9?
I'm in the process of a new computer build and thought I'd try to save some of my aircraft over to a secondary drive I use for storage........ just moving the current Aircraft directory took 1.3 hours. (Sheepish grin..... guess I got a lot of stuff.)
Thanks!

I would never use a utility that cleaned out my gauges folder again. It's taken a long time to get all those gauges and I never have a missing gauges issue now

I've never found one that works well.

Thanks guys.... that pretty much sums it up then. Guess I'll just be stuck with a lot of stuff.
Best wishes,

Along the lines of a gauge manager, I'd really like to get ahold of one for FS-X that analyses the panels and gauges and replaces or offers replacement options for non-compatible gauges. It would also need to get rid of old gauges. I don't want to guess how much hard drive space is taken up by stuff that will never be used again.

It would also need to get rid of old gauges. Well at one level that would probably involve checking each gauge to see if it is xml based or not. I am not sure how accurate that would be as I haven't investigated it. Replacing non compliant gauges would be a lot more difficult I suspect as there are issues of size, type of aircraft and personal choice at stake

True. It would seem to me that some sort of on-line (for updates) database would make it easier.
