Can anyone give me some direction on this?
In FS2004 and Golden Wings, when I try to access airports in the United Kingdom..no airports show up. Rather a list of all the 23,000+ airports comes up in the Choice Dialog Box.
All other countries work fine.
Any idea how to fix this, so I can get UK airports to show up?
Regards, Royce

This happened before Royce. Let me see if I can find the fix. It will probably be tomorrow before I get back to you.

Thanks Tom, appreciate it. I'm clueless as to why it would happen; especially to both GW and FS9..
Merry Christmas and Happy Hoildays!

Royce, Have a look at this topic, and this similar topic. They may relate to your problem. All installs of the sim (within the same user account) share several files that relate to scenery. These include .idx files which, amongst other things, create the lists in the 'select airport' screen. These files are amended when any sim updates it's scenery database. My guess is somehow UK facilities were removed in one of your sims, the scenery database was updated and the change shows up in both sims now. You could try forcing a rebuild of the files: In one of your sims go to the 'Scenery Library' and uncheck and then recheck any item in the 'area list' (you'll get the '....scenery has changed....restart the sim...' message). This will cause a rebuild of the scenery database when you restart the sim. Try this in both your sims if necessary. Hopefully one of the rebuilds will result in the return of your UK. Dave

Sorry to hear that Royce, a few more ?? then:
Did you try it in both sims?, checking after each 'rebuild' for the results.
How long have you had this problem?
Can you think of any modifcations or add-ons of late that could be involved?
Have you deleted any files/folders from your sim(s)?
Do the UK airports appear in the list of 23000+ airports? and/or do they appear if you type in the airport ID?

Dave -
>>Did you try it in both sims?, checking after each 'rebuild' for the results.<<
Yes..no joy
>>How long have you had this problem?<<
Just became aware of it yesterday..I don't fly from the UK much..just Croydon ;>)
>>Can you think of any modifcations or add-ons of late that could be involved?<<
No, not at all
>>Have you deleted any files/folders from your sim(s)?<<
Not really..manly use GW3, and I can't recall anything that would have been deleted.. Although I did use Golden Hawaii switcher recently..HMM..maybe I never switched back to FS..do you think that could be the reason?
Edit: Just tried the Switcher and it made no difference.
>>Do the UK airports appear in the list of 23000+ airports? and/or do they appear if you type in the airport ID?<<
I didn't go through the whole list..but I recall one or two UK airports coming up in the 23,000 list.
Edit: Just went through the list and apparently UK cities do show up when scrolling the master list presented.
Help ;>)

Royce, I can't find the reference but as I recall, it was caused previously by a leading space that crept into the scenery library. Try a look down through your scenery.cfg and see if you find something that doesn't line up. Meanwhile, I will continue searching. Unfortunately I've made over 2600 posts so it is a bit like the needle in the haystack

Tom- Thanks for taking the time to research your past postings ;>) ..In the meantime is the scenery.cfg the main scenery folder in GW and/or FS9?

In the root folder of GW3 and FS9 there is a file called scenery.cfg

Tom, I believe a certain add-on caused this, can't remember which one though...

Tom- Please stop looking :>) For some reason? ? I have all the UK fields now back in both GW and FS9 after these several days on not being able to load them. Beats me..but I guess I'm back to where I should be. I had just added some new scenery and after the sim built the file base, I checked the UK by habit and sure enough they showed up. Perhaps Dave was correct after all. Again thanks all for the time toi help with this problem Regards, Royce
