These two, both created by Bill and Lynn Lyons crash badly to my desktop whenever I start their flights.... They both have auto installers,so it has me perplexed as to why this is happening....
1954 Piper Apache 150 for Fs2004....has included flights...The zip is cc7pa23F
1934 Pietenpol Air Camper and 1937 Stinson SR-9C for Fs2004..has included flights...zip is cc6stinF
My system is the normal stuff..Have the FS9 update, along with the latest Fsusip..and latest Vid drivers and Sound Drivers...
Any ideas would be great..Thanks in advance...
These are in FS9 but do the same in GoldenWings...(temp)uninstalled
Thanks.....Mason

Hi Mason,
I don't have any suggestions, just a question to clarify.
Can you select/fly the aircraft from 'create a flight'? That is, do you only have problems when loading one of the included flights?
I have both packages installed and have had no problems with either the aircraft or the included flights.

Hi Mason. Be sure you have "Render to Texture" ticked on the hardware tab of the display preferences.
If that does not fix the problem, is it all flights or just a certain flight that causes the crash?

Thanks for both your responces..Yes I have *Render To Texture* checked.... And even just picking the plane from create a flight,or under Select a Flight causes a major crash....... My puter would not start this morning.....I usually leave it on standby but turned it off last night....I finally got it to boot....But right into the American Trends Splash screen....Meaning my NEW HDD is going to crash again..... When will it end?? I have inhome replacement, they will call and set up a day later..So if I get absent for a few days. Its cause It did crash leaving me with a broke puter again...AAAAGGGGHHHHH...LOL I will check my posts on my wifs puter though... Till then...Happy Flying.......Mason

One more thing to try, rename the sound folder to xxSound and copy the c172 sound folder into the aircraft folder and see if it will load.

Harleyman,
If you do not get the crash to desktop (CTD) upon load but after you start to move your plane, open the map and see if you don't have another scenery loading at the same location. I have had problems in the past where I would get a CTD because of conflicting scenery areas.

Thanks MoCat....It did seem to happen only when I applied throttles......Then crash to Desktop.......
TomC...I did as you said and I had only gear and flap sound.....So I renamed my sound folder back to just sound and it is perfect....Great.......Thanks for the help......Must be something about the sound config or something..I dunnooooo...LOL
So..Then how would I go about fixing the other zip?
1934 Pietenpol Air Camper and 1937 Stinson SR-9C for Fs2004..has included flights...zip is cc6stinF
Thanks in advance...BTW I switched to my old E Machine till they replace my HDD and M/B next week......

I just skimmed through the posts in the Custom Classics support forum and found several similar problems. They all revolved around problems with sounds. Bill used a lot of custom sounds and the CD player gauge also used a custom click sound. Bill's suggestion back then was to substitute another sound folder and/or to be sure the radio/CD player is disabled. I remember the CD player cause me no end of problems until I added a Soundblaster card. Apparently the onboard chip did not like the click sound.
Another but more tedious approach would be to remove all sound files to a temp folder and add them back 4-5 at a time until the crash occurs. Then it is likely that one of the last batch is the villain.

Thanks again TomC.....
Which sound folder would be fitting for the Stinson and Air Camper? I don't have lots of old stuff or bi planes installed.....
Thanks.....Mason
BTW...I have a SB Audigy card too........

Another thought... If it only happens when you apply throttles, perhaps there is a corrupt file among the engine sounds. That would narrow the search.

The Jenny sound folder would work for the Pietenpol
If that solves the problem we can come up with a radial for the Stinson.

Got any other radials installed? If not, Bill's Classic Waco has a nice sounding engine as does the "Magic One" from Bill's TravelAir pack Both are at Avsim & Flightsim
